When I lost my Esmeralda

238 Words
As things were going now it was inevitable that everything was going to be at a breaking point soon. Nothing prepared me for the moment I held my Esmeralda for the last moment as I was the one who found her in the small cave down at the beach. She was dead and there was no life in her no matter how hard I tried to revive her I was too late. The gloomy gray weather was a foreboding shadow of this death. The funeral and burial was a somber affair as the whole tiny village was there. I made a coffin for her and the whole time I was thinking what if I didn't go fishing yesterday, what if I was with her. My pain is beyond description as I never faced loosing someone I come to love so much. I hardly knew her and there should have been more time for us. Why is this world so cruel as I couldn't speak to Granny anymore about how I feel as she makes like it's nothing and that Esmeralda was just no one and therefore unimportant. I am beyond heartsore and all that Granny can do is try to console me with empty words. I have to get away from here and that's when I see the ships on the horizon and an idea forms in my mind I will join the ships and become a seafarer.
