{Margo’s POV}
I can’t explain how wrong I felt in this moment. Being here with Dimitri, even in my own home when just this morning I was admitting my feelings for Damon and Carter.. it felt miserable. Maybe it was the fact that Dimitri picked a movie that I couldn’t bring myself to watch. It was 50.. Colors or something like that. There was nothing but strange dungeons, and lots of sex.. I had my eyes covered for most of it. “What? You don’t like this movie?” He laughed. “To be honest, I didn’t know what happened in this movie, but my sister talks about it a lot..” he sighed. “If I had known this is what it was I wouldn’t have picked it.” He said. “I really wanted to try to be nice to you, I know it doesn’t make up for what some of my relatives did to you.. but I am sorry..” he said softly.
I sighed, and turned to face him. “It’s.. that..” I sighed once again. “I can’t blame you for what your family did to me.. unless you all knew of course..” I said, keeping eye contact.
“We didn’t, not until last week. My older brother was visiting with our cousins, and one of the youngest ones had let it slip. He was really mad, he had helped join in on the search for you. He couldn’t bring himself to see it was his own family until that moment. When our cousin let it slip he left, severing ties with the Petrov’s completely. He came home and told all of us, and luckily was able to get a hold of your father. Had we known sooner..” he sighed. “Look.. we aren’t a close knit family. We don’t really even like one another, even my twin and I aren’t super close.. it’s normal for us to not talk, so it wasn’t unusual for our cousins and us not to speak. I myself haven’t spoken to any of them in years.” He turned back away from me, facing the screen. “I think all of us kind of blame ourselves.. if we were in contact with them more, maybe we could have heard something..” he turned back to face me. “My older brother was really excited to see you, but he had to leave town to talk to some of our other family members, he wanted to spread the truth around that way everyone could prepare. I know when he gets back, he’ll be excited to meet you.” He smiled.
I couldn’t help but smile back, he was so sweet in this moment, whether it was real or not. “I look forward to meeting him as well, for now though, I appreciate you telling me all of this. I have had a rough time getting adjusted back to society. Learning how to talk to people, joke around, be a family member.. a sister.. be a friend. All of this is new to me.” I smiled looking down at my hands. “I even thought..” I chuckled bitterly. “I thought I had found someone who wanted to be with me.. but I couldn’t have been more wrong. I don’t blame you, or your family.. just the Petrov’s.”
“Still, I’m sorry.” He said, placing his hand on top of mine.
“Thank you, for saying that.” I nodded, pulling my hand from his and wiping a single tear off my face.
“Now I’ve made you cry, your brothers will end me!” He laughed.
I chuckled. “They’re sweet when they want to be! They’re just very protective, sometimes way too overprotective.” I sighed. “I get it.. they’re worried. I’m worried too. I can’t go out anywhere without getting hurt, or kidnapped.. someone has to be by my side at all times.. it’s just a pain.”
“They’re protecting their bambina! Their baby sister! They love you, all of them do. You can’t blame them for wanting to keep you safe after everything that’s happened.” He smiled.
I nodded, he made a good point. “Fair.” I said, turning I could see Angelo, Damon, and Carter sitting in the very back row. “Can I help you guys?” I asked, standing and turning to face them.
“Just watching the movie.” Angelo said.
I laughed. “Didn’t know you were into this kinda stuff Angel!” I giggled loudly. “I can’t take it anymore, it’s so bad!” I stood up, grabbing Dimitri’s hand and pulling him behind me as we ran from the movie theater.
He was laughing hysterically behind me. “I think your guard dogs hate me! If they did their research though, they’d know that I’m gay!” He laughed.
I giggled. “They wouldn’t care! They’re all crazy!” We made our way to the kitchen and I grabbed a bottle of strawberry wine that dad had gotten for me and a couple of glasses. “Want some?” I asked, pouring myself a glass.
He nodded, smiling brightly. “Sure, sounds great!”
We both drank down our first glasses, then another, and another. By the end we had finished off the whole bottle, but I was only a little tipsy. I giggled, as we sat in the living room just talking for hours. Soon my dad came in with an older woman, she looked like Dimitri, and Daniella. “Well I see that you all got into the wine!” Dad said, a low laugh coming from him.
I smiled up at him, standing and walking to the woman. “Hello, I’m Margo, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” I said shaking her hand.
“The pleasure is all mine young lady.” She said smiling back, and shaking my hand. “I hope my children haven’t been bothering you!” She said turning to Dimitri.
“No, not at all. We had some wine, watched a movie and have just been chatting. I’m thankful I got to know Dimitri, and even Daniella. I was worried when we had our misfortunate encounter earlier, but she is also very sweet!” I smiled.
“Well, that’s not something I normally hear about my kids!” She laughed. “Well I guess mine isn’t the worst behaved kids in all of the families here in town!” She laughed.
Dimitri stood, laughing beside me. “Definitely not!” He stopped and looked to me. “You haven’t gotten a chance to meet everyone have you?” He asked.
I looked to him, then dad. “I.. um.. I don’t think so.” I said.
Dad shook his head. “No, you haven’t, we’ll have to fix that soon. Especially with everyone beginning to learn of the Petrov family’s betrayal..” he said, lifting his hand to his chin.
“You should throw a ball! Introduce her to the families with a ball like the ones we throw for their 16th birthdays!” The woman beside my father said.
“That’s a wonderful idea Tanya! We haven’t had one since Silas’ birthday last year!” He said, his eyes flowing back to me. “We’ll have a ball, in one month’s time, for my princess!” He smiled happily.
