Hidden Gems
The cave widened slowly as it burrowed into the cliff face until, after about twenty feet, it stretched a good six feet across and five high. Raedrick could walk normally, albeit with a stoop, but that was a far sight better than it had been at the opening.
The walls and ceiling were rough, jagged, but the floor was smooth, as though many feet had tromped through here over the years and wore it down. Or perhaps paws more than feet.
That was a distinct possibility, now that he thought about it. Bears and other animals sought shelter for the winter in caves. Raedrick imagined they would not be pleased to have their slumber disturbed by the likes of him.
