“I know.” I squeezed her hands. “I’m so thankful for all that you have done for Phoebe and me.” “I’m just glad that Charley came home safe. Raising the girls on my own would not have been easy.” She reflected a moment and then added, “And I would have missed him after a while.” Her joke caught me off guard and I laughed. Charley handed the baby to Ginny and then went to give Jeremiah a mug of hot cider and we all sat down to a wonderful breakfast. Jeremiah sat next to me on my left and Phoebe on my right. Charles, Ginny and their children filled out the table. It was a tight fit but we ate, joked and after we cleaned up, the children went outside to play.
