Chapter 2 I opened my eyes and saw the Silver Fox staring at me. Disoriented from just waking up, I recoiled back from him to the far side of the tent. He did not move, watching me in absolute stillness with his golden colored eyes. We had moved the tent closer to the fire before going to bed so flickering light cast odd shadows on the right-hand side of the tent. Still he did not move and as I came more to my senses, I struggled to wake and asked, “Why do you stare at me?” He smiled and his teeth, perfect white, stood out in the semi-darkness. “I look at you, of course.” “You’re frightening me. Please, stop.” I pulled the blanket up around me, and even though fully clothed, I thought he looked through me into my soul. He blinked and then relaxed a bit, leaning back against some pillow
