Chapter 3 I could not find Phoebe, but I knew that she ran around an extensive yard and in front of the large, white house stood an old cherry blossom tree. Thick limbed and stable, the tree took up most of the front yard. Renée turned to me and asked me a question and I glanced away from the tree and we talked. How good it felt to see her again and to hear her voice. A noise from outside attracted my attention and I turned to see Phoebe slide down one of the large branches and bound, almost unnatural, like a cat on all fours to the ground.
