FERNANDA/NANA'S POV
After hearing about this little angels condition I just couldn't say no especially after hearing the pleading coming from her father, this obviously strong mysterious man who has humbled himself for the sake of his daughter "come on baby, let's get you home"
"will you go with us?" Came that angelic voice again and when I answered yes she let out the loudest yeah I've ever heard, she struggled to come down from my arms all excited and dragged me towards the exit shouting "hurry Papa, Mama is coming home with us" you just couldn't help but smile at her innocence.
One hour turned to two as the little one refused to let me go until she finally slept off to me singing her a lullaby.
Thank God I agreed to follow them, on the ride here I could already sense mild fever on her, it took a while for the fever to subside with the father at alert waiting to see if there was any need to go to the hospital, no wonder he was so desperate I could tell he was already blaming himself.
Looking down at her I felt so bad knowing that this ball of sunshine has to endure the torture of taking medications at such a young age.
I quietly closed her door after checking the baby monitor her father set earlier, repeating the instructions on how to find him I made my way carefully to the living room downstairs trying not to get lost in this big mansion they call a home.
I met an elderly lady in the living room whom I believe to be the grandmother they talked about, I don't really know about the lady that was standing near her but the look she was giving me was really not a welcoming one, well what do I care I'm done with what I came to do and i don't have time again I need to get home so as to make it in time for my next shift I have less than an hour to go. "Who are you?" It was the grandmother asking.
"uhmm hello good day, I'm Nana I just helped to take care of Isa today, and I'm on my way out" I answered.
"oh, where's my son" she asked again.
I'll also like to know too. I thought.
"I don't know, I was actually looking for him to let him know that I'm leaving but since you're here I think I can leave now, the little girl is upstairs sleeping in her room she had a slight fever this afternoon but she's ok now but she still needs to be monitored just to be on the safe side"
"mum I don't think she can leave just yet, what if she did something to Isabella?" She finally spoke, I could tell she was waiting to say it since.
"I'm sorry but I really need to go I have a job to get to, if you're not convinced my full name is Nana Paul" I reached into my bag and brought out a jotter and pen and scribbled my number and workplace and gave it to the grandmother "you can always find me here or call me if you have anything to tell me, okay now bye"
I turned to leave and immediately bumped into Mr handsome hero, I was on my way to the floor but he caught me and helped me to steady myself with those strong arms, I grabbed unto his chest as a support and his hands went to my waist and gently glided up to rest on my shoulders, just that gesture alone left me tingling all over.
Fer get a hold of yourself for crying out loud, awkwardly I said "I..I..Isa is upstairs sleeping and I need to leave now"
"I'll walk you out" was all he said all the while giving his mother and the lady a disapproving look. "Thank you for today, I really appreciate, you just have to tell my driver where to drop you and least I forget, how much do I owe you?"
" don't bother, I'm glad I could help out today, I do hope she gets better" I answered
"hmm, are you sure? you could ask for any amount" he pressed on
"no I'm good, if you're finding it difficult to accept, you could see it as me returning the favour of saving my life by getting me out of Oakville"
he opened his mouth as if to ask a question but then thought otherwise and just replied "thank you" before opening the door for me.
I didn't even bother going back to the house as I was running late so I told the driver to drop me at the hotel where I quickly rushed to clock in but I was about 15 minutes late, it doesn't matter cause I would do it over again if I were to be given another chance.
MARCELO'S POV
I finally settled down to rest around 2 AM after convincing Isa to go back to bed. I would have left her to sleep all through but she needed to take her medications for the night hence the need to wake her up, I was however woken up by a very loud scream "oh what is wrong now, what's that all about?"
I dragged myself from the bed, it took me a moment to register that the commotion was coming from the baby monitor in my room, Isa is awake and she's not happy.
I rushed to her room to see her nannies struggling to soothe her "what's wrong" I asked
"sorry sir, she just suddenly woke up and has been crying since" I move closer to her
"cupcake, did you have a nightmare, what's wrong hunny?" She looked at me with those big blue eyes, as if she knew my weakness
"Mama is gone, Mama is not here, she said she will stay and you said she was downstairs but she's not there" sometimes I forget how intelligent and very articulate she is, she's just three years old but even her teachers have attested to the fact that she's developing faster than her mates
"she had to go to work so that's why she's not here" I tried to give her some kind of explanation
"no no Papa, you told her to go, Papa is bad, you told her to go, Isa don't like Papa again" she muttered before picking her favorite teddy bear to the corner of the room, a sign that she will cry there for a very long time.
This is going to be a very very long night, sleep who?, no sleep for any of us tonight.
I am on the floor of my study going through every book I've used recently these past few days in desperation.
Isa's cry has become a norm at home for a almost a week now at first she stopped throwing tantrums and crying but now she's refusing to eat and it's affecting her health.
Worst of it all is that I don't know where the young lady lives, I've been to the art supply shop but to no avail even the hotel for two days and nothing still.
That was when I remembered the little note she gave Mama and I've been searching for it ever since but no progress, I walk into my room to check once again only to find out it's been inside the bedside drawer all this while. Immediately I called her up requesting to meet.
