Sharing a Bed?

1463 Words
“You want to sleep in the same room with me?” Li Chen asked to be sure. “Yes. Is there a problem?” Su Yue replied, her face innocent. “No… Go on up to the room. I’ll watch a bit of TV first,” Li Chen said, trying to stall so he could calm his nerves. “Alright.” Without another word, Su Yue headed upstairs to the bedroom. The moment she stepped into the room, she closed the door behind her, leaned against it, and felt her cheeks flush red like a ripe apple. Of course, she knew what she had just said to Li Chen. Her heart was pounding like crazy, like a little deer jumping around inside her chest. She felt excited, nervous, and hopeful all at once. She took a deep breath, trying to calm the little deer—but it didn’t help. The deer was still running wild… like it had just eaten something spicy. Su Yue approached the bed and sat down, kicking off her slippers before climbing up. She flopped face-down into the mattress, burying her face in the blanket. She inhaled the scent of Li Chen’s bedding. It wasn’t perfumed, but it smelled nice—clean and familiar. “Mmm... It smells so good...” (〃▽〃) Su Yue buried her face deeper into the blanket, sniffing like a little addict, her mouth slightly open and her expression dazed. “What’s wrong with me? I’m acting like some kind of desperate woman…” Her cheeks turned an even deeper shade of red, and she rolled over slightly. Even so, she didn’t stop sniffing the blanket, completely entranced. Li Chen came into the room a while later and found Su Yue already fast asleep. He looked at her peaceful face—soft, makeup-free, and completely vulnerable. He had already mentally prepared himself for whatever might happen tonight. Su Yue had been so proactive… He didn’t want to hesitate. This wasn’t a loss—it was a blessing. :) But now that he had calmed down and went into the room… Su Yue was fast asleep. “She fell asleep so fast… Was she that tired? What did she even do during the day?” “Xiao Yue?” Li Chen called out softly twice, but she didn’t stir. She was sound asleep. Her lips were slightly parted, and a little drool was about to slip out. Seeing how peaceful she looked, Li Chen couldn’t bring himself to wake her. He smiled softly and gently crawled into bed, pulling the blanket over himself. Well… looks like nothing’s going to happen tonight. A faint, lovely fragrance lingered beside him—his own familiar soap mingled with her unique scent. It was intoxicating, like a blooming orchid. *** The next morning. When Su Yue woke up, she felt more rested than she had in a long time. She’d slept like a rock. She couldn’t even remember the last time she’d had a night of such deep, restful sleep. As she sat up, her mind felt completely refreshed. It was even better than a spa session. During college and her early working life, she’d hardly ever slept well—especially with all the academic pressure. Good sleep was rare. Huh? Su Yue suddenly realized that someone was curled up beside her—Li Chen. His head was resting on her lap like a pillow, one arm loosely wrapped around her waist. Seeing him like that made her recall the events of last night. She quickly checked herself—nothing seemed different. Which meant… nothing had happened. ‘What happened after I fell asleep? Why’s he hugging me like this?’ Her cheeks turned pink. Li Chen stirred, feeling movement in his arms. He opened his eyes slowly and saw Su Yue awake in front of him. “You’re up?” he mumbled, rubbing his eyes. “Yeah...” Su Yue replied softly. “Did you sleep well?” “Mhm…” “Want some breakfast?” She nodded slightly, still not quite fully awake. “What do you feel like eating?” Li Chen asked again. “… Did you do anything weird last night?” Su Yue squeaked bashfully. “What do you mean by ‘weird’?” (≖‿≖) *** A little later, the two of them walked into the civil affairs office—hand in hand. Thirty minutes later, they came back out, each holding a little red booklet—their marriage certificate. From that moment on, Li Chen and Su Yue were legally husband and wife. They looked at each other and smiled, happiness shining in their eyes. [DING!] [Host is now legally married to Su Yue. Mission complete. System is now officially bound to Host!] [GOD-TIER LOGIN SYSTEM ACTIVATED] [Host may log in once a day to receive a random reward. Consecutive seven-day logins grant a Mega Bonus, including potential business opportunities.] [Ding! Host has received the Beginner’s Gift Pack!] A mechanical voice echoed in Li Chen’s mind. He saw a glowing inventory window only visible to him, showing a gift pack icon. The corner of his mouth curled up. No rush. He’d open the beginner pack later. “From now on, I’ll be relying on your care and guidance, my dear husband~” Su Yue said sweetly. Li Chen touched the tip of his nose, proud and a little shy. He wasn’t used to being called “husband”… but hearing it from her, he quite liked it. “Likewise, my lovely wife~ I’m counting on you too.” “Mm-hmm~” Su Yue replied, full of joy. She loved hearing him call her ‘wife.’ She wrapped her arms around his, snuggling close like a lovestruck newlywed. Li Chen could feel a soft, bouncy warmth pressing against his arm. His wife… She must be very confident in those. “Honey, you know what? I really love it when you call me your wife,” Su Yue said flirtatiously. “Really? I actually love it when you call me your husband.” After leaving the civil office, the two didn’t head home right away. They went shopping instead. It was their first real date—married first, dating second. So blissful. Su Yue kept clinging to his arm like syrup on pancakes. Li Chen thought to himself how surprisingly well Su Yue adapted. Anyone watching them would think they’d been dating for years. Still, he reminded himself: if his wife was going to be this proactive, he couldn’t afford to stay passive. He needed to show her he cared just as much. How could he let her do all the work in this relationship? So, Li Chen gently wrapped an arm around Su Yue’s waist. It was soft… warm… perfect. The distance between them shrank until they could feel each other’s breath. “Ugh…” Su Yue let out a tiny gasp. Her cheeks flushed. It was the first time she’d ever been held by a man other than her father. She didn’t expect it to feel so… nice. Her body tensed, then relaxed. Without resistance, she leaned her delicate body fully against her husband. Her heart thumped wildly. The little deer in her chest hit the wall again. She secretly lifted her head and peeked at his profile. She smiled shyly. (⁄ ⁄>⁄ ▽ ⁄<⁄ ⁄) “Look at that couple—so sweet it’s sickening!” “They’re thriving off someone else’s heartbreak. Bastards.” “I want to call the cops. This couple is blatantly assaulting the public with biological weapons—pure PDA warfare!” “The guy’s so handsome, and the girl’s stunning. I think I’m falling for both of them.” “I just stepped outside for a walk and got force-fed a pound of dog food. Heartless!” Their public display of affection drew quite the crowd—and plenty of jealousy. Su Yue blushed at the attention. She might have looked cool and experienced, but in truth, this was all new to her. She’d never been this close to a man, and never once flaunted affection like this before. Even as a campus goddess, she’d never experienced the kind of attention she was getting now. Unconsciously, Su Yue tightened her grip on Li Chen’s arm. Her first date. Her first moment as the center of attention—as someone’s beloved. Making people jealous? It felt amazing. No words could describe it. As they walked together, radiating love, every passing stranger got force-fed another spoonful of “dog food.” “No wonder Xiao Yuxin loved showing off her boyfriend so much in the past… It’s deliciously evil,” Su Yue muttered.
