Chapter 6

John's eyes gleamed with desire. He was just about to pounce on Sarah and unleash his primal urges.

At that moment, the Rainford family's front door was kicked open, and a group of masked men stormed in!

Both John and Sarah were instantly startled.

John's face turned red with fury. "Who the hell dares to ruin my good time?"

William and Shirley emerged from the room, bewildered. "What's happening?" they asked.

John pointed angrily at the intruders. "Who are you? Who dares to ruin my good time? Do you want to die?"

Bang!

"Screw you!" One of the masked men kicked John in the stomach, sending him crashing to the ground, howling in pain.

John, trying to save face in front of Shirley and William, struggled to stand. He pointed at the masked man. "You damn fool, do you know who I am? My father is Henry Smith, the chairman of the Smith Group! Can you afford to mess with me?"

Shirley and William breathed a sigh of relief, hoping Henry's name would scare the intruders away.

Smack! To their shock, the masked man slapped John across the face, knocking out two of his teeth. "Henry is nothing to me!"

Shirley and William were stunned. 'These people doesn't fear the Smith family?'

Shirley, gaining some courage, asked, "Who are you?"

Smack! The masked man slapped Shirley, knocking her to the ground. He placed a knife against her throat and growled, "Listen up, we're from the Vipers. Stay quiet, or you're dead!"

The Vipers?

They had come to their home?

Shirley turned pale with fright, and William was shaking uncontrollably, too scared to utter a word.

John was so terrified he almost wet himself. Bluffing was one thing, but facing the Vipers was another. His legs almost went limp before those gang members!

The masked man looked at Sarah and said coldly, "Mrs. Howell, come with us."

Sarah shook her head, her face drained of color. "No, I don't know you. What exactly do you want?"

The masked man sneered. "We've been sent by our boss to take you back. Blame your useless husband. He killed our boss's brother!"

"What!?" William and Sarah were stunned.

Ethan? He's back? And he killed the Vipers' boss's brother?

Shirley was the first to recover. "Sir, you must be mistaken. Ethan is just a nobody. How could he possibly kill your boss's brother?"

William added, "Yeah, sir, we know Ethan very well. He couldn't even kill a weak chicken, let alone a person."

The masked man scoffed. "Are you saying we're blind?"

The couple recoiled, hurriedly replying, "No, no!"

The masked man shoved them aside and took Sarah away.

William and Shirley watched helplessly as the Vipers took Sarah.

Shirley looked at John, bewildered. "Mr. Smith, didn't you say your family has ties with the Vipers? What's going on?"

John, embarrassed, tried to cover up. "I just got back from abroad. They might not be familiar with me yet."

Shirley sighed with relief. "I see. Well, thank you, Mr. Smith."

Just then, a shadow flashed past the door, and Ethan entered. Seeing the scene, he immediately sensed something was wrong. "Dad, Mom, where's Sarah?"

The Rainfords were surprised to see Ethan. Shirley started berating him. "Ethan, you good-for-nothing, have the nerve to show your face?"

William sighed. "Ethan, Sarah has been taken by the Vipers."

Ethan's expression darkened. "The Vipers again!"

He had been excited to return, expecting to reunite with his beloved wife and daughter. Instead, the Vipers had taken Sarah!

'They've already harmed my daughter, and now they're after my wife! Unforgivable!' Ethan's jaw clenched, and his muscles tensed, radiating a palpable aura of fury.

Shirley pointed at Ethan and scolded, "You have the nerve to say that? If it weren't for you provoking the Vipers, they wouldn't be coming after us. It's all because of you, you jinx!"

Ethan clenched his fists, his voice cold. "Mom, don't worry. I'll destroy the Vipers and bring Sarah back."

John laughed derisively. "Useless fool, do you even know what you're saying? The Vipers are the largest gang in Seaview City, with influence throughout the continent. You, a nobody, want to destroy them? Have you lost your mind?"

Shirley pointed at Ethan and shouted, "Ethan, talking big won't get you anywhere. If the Vipers hear this, we'll all suffer!"

William looked disappointed. "Ethan, I had some hope for you, but after three years, you haven't changed at all. First Lily was taken, and now Sarah. Next, it'll be us. Please, don't talk nonsense. Do you want to harm us all?"

Ethan said, "Dad, I've rescued Lily. She's in the hospital now."

But no one believed him. Shirley yelled, "Shut up! Your stories are getting wilder! You, a nobody, rescued Lily? I'll never believe it!"

John chuckled. "Exactly, Ethan. Stop trying to save face. I know you want to save your wife and daughter. Look, my shoe is dirty. Lick it clean, and I'll consider helping you." He extended his foot, looking at Ethan mockingly.

Ethan looked at John, thinking only one word: 'Clown!' 

He ignored the petty thug.

Shirley yelled at Ethan, "You good-for-nothing, didn't you hear him? Lick Mr. Smith's shoes! Do you want Sarah to die?"

William said, "Ethan, for Sarah and Lily's sake, just swallow your pride."

Ethan was disappointed. After three years, his in-laws hadn't changed.

Ethan said coldly, "I said I'll destroy the Vipers and bring Sarah back." With that, Ethan turned and left, heading straight for the Vipers' headquarter!

William watched Ethan's retreating form, shaking his head. "Sigh, after all these years, he's still hopeless."

Shirley said, "Forget him. It's better if he dies. Then Sarah can marry Mr. Smith. But, Mr. Smith, you have to save Sarah quickly."

John, trying to save face, said, "Mrs. Rainford, don't worry. The Smith family has some connections. I'll make a call, and I'll make sure they bring Sarah back."

With his guarantee, Shirley felt reassured.

John, however, wanted to escape. The Smith family couldn't afford to offend the Vipers. As for Ethan, he was a nobody, and meddling with the Vipers would be his downfall.

Leaving the Rainford residence, Ethan's demeanor transformed. He looked like a king returning to reclaim his throne or a demon lord seeking revenge. His face was dark with fury!

"Zico, are the troops ready?" Zico quickly appeared beside Ethan, bowing. "Lord, everyone is in Seaview City, awaiting your command!"

Ethan growled, "Issue my order: assemble everyone! Target: The Vipers' headquarters! I don't want the Vipers to exist on this planet within the next half hour!"

Zico bowed. "Understood!"
