I stared at the rejection email in my screen.
Request Disapproved?
I stood up and walked straight to his office. I’d barely slept the night before.
I knocked once. No answer.
So I pushed the door open.
He didn’t look up. “You don’t knock before barging in now?”
“I did knock.”
It’s not like I don’t have my own desk here too.
His pen stilled over whatever contract he was reviewing. Slowly he lifted his gaze to meet mine.
Steel. That’s what his eyes looked like.
“You denied my transfer.”
“Yes,” he said simply without any apology.
