The next morning, I walked into the office earlier than usual.
I didn’t sleep much the night before. My thoughts kept circling.
But it was a new day. And I was determined to not let anything get to me.
I pushed open the door to the admin wing and I froze.
Evan was already there.
Alone. Standing by the wide window in the corner, back turned, hands behind him.
Does he even sleep at all?
He didn’t notice me.
I should’ve walked away, gave him space. But something made me stop.
The way his shoulders slumped.
The way his jaw was clenched so tight I could see I could see the tension from across the room.
He looked… tired. Not just physically. Like something in him was fighting to hold on.
