Rovee's POV "Kuya Rovee, wake up! You have a letter from the DA." Fatima, my younger sister, yelled. "Just give me 10 more minutes," I said while lying down. I was really exhausted last night from playing computer games. I almost lost at the Boss Level, but then the power went out in our house. The wind suddenly became strong, causing the electric post in front of us to fall. I don't know why, but I get annoyed every time I think about what happened last night because it caused my rank in the game to drop. "Kuya Rovee" Fatima called again. I really didn't want to get up, but I didn't have a choice. I knew that Fatima wouldn't stop bothering me. When I opened my eyes, I was surprised to see something on my left hand. "Ahhhhhhhhh!!!" I shouted loudly as I saw a white mark on my left hand. I quickly went to the bathroom to wash it off. I rubbed it harshly with soap, but it wouldn't go away. I couldn't believe it and I didn't know how I got it. It was a white mark that looked like a tattoo. "Kuya? What's that? Why are you shouting?" Fatima asked from downstairs. I hurriedly went downstairs still wearing my blue pajamas and a white jacket to cover the strange mark on my hand. I rushed and didn't bother changing. I didn't want to show Fatima the mysterious mark that suddenly appeared on my hand. I wouldn't dare to say a single word because I knew she wouldn't stop pestering and asking me about it. It's just the three of us in the house - my sister, Fatima Anisa, and my grandma, Lola Precy. We live alone since my father passed away when I was 8. My mother works abroad and we rarely see her. "Kuya? Were you the one shouting?" she asked curiously, making me nervous. What if she finds out? What should I do? "Ah, it's nothing," I replied then changed the topic to avoid suspicion. "Fatima, where's Lola?" "She went to the market, kuya. Kuya! Why did you take so long to wake up? Here, you got a letter from DA." She said to me while holding a white envelope. "What's this? And who would write to me?" we wondered curiously as we looked at the envelope. The room fell into a minute of silence. "Maybe it's from mom, kuya! Maybe it contains money!" Fatima exclaimed happily, thinking that our mom sent money. But when I opened the letter, I was surprised to find out that it came from a prestigious academy. "Good morning, We hereby inform you that you are one of the Chosen. We highly invite you to enroll at our prestigious academy. Dame Academy is looking forward to your presence. Tomorrow at 7:00, someone will be there to pick you up. Be ready and pack your belongings." Dame Academy "Wow, kuya! You're invited to enroll in an academy! Only one in a million receives this kind of invitation, kuya!" "According to rumors, this academy has the highest standards among all academies, and not even money can guarantee an entrance or even enrollment as an official student. Many people want to get in, but not everyone is lucky enough to be accepted. Only students who come from this academy truly know what it looks like. They say that Dame Academy is huge, even bigger than a normal academy. It even has its own shopping malls inside the building," she said in amazement. Even I couldn't believe that I received an invitation to enroll in such an academy. Even my own classmates dream of enrolling in this academy. You could see the joy on my face because it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to receive an invitation from a prestigious academy. "But what about you? What about Lola? I don't think I can bear to leave you both behind. Forget about this and let's have breakfast." "But Kuy..." "Enough is enough!" I shouted at her. I may want to study far away, but I couldn't bear the thought of leaving Fatima behind. We stopped our conversation and headed for breakfast. Fatima prepared the dining table. She cooked fried eggs and hotdogs. Lola Precy arrived just in time. We all ate and had our breakfast. We didn't bother mentioning anything about the letter as silence started to consume us. As we finished our breakfast, Lola Precy broke the silence. "Rovee, my dear, what's bothering you? I can sense that something is troubling you." I hesitated for a moment, but realized that I couldn't keep it a secret any longer. "Lola, I received a letter from Dame Academy. They want me to enroll there. It's a prestigious academy, but I don't want to leave Fatima and you behind." Lola Precy gave me a comforting smile and reached out to hold my hand. "Rovee, my boy, this is an incredible opportunity for you. I understand your concern, but sometimes we have to let go of our fears and take a leap of faith. Fatima and I will always be here, supporting you." I couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude towards Lola Precy. She has always been there for us, despite the hardships we've faced as a family. Her words reassured me, and I knew deep down that I couldn't let this opportunity slip away. Later that day, Fatima and I went shopping for my new school supplies. The invitation instructed me to bring my belongings, so I needed to be prepared. We walked through the bustling streets, excitedly discussing what lies ahead. As we entered a stationery store, I couldn't help but notice a strange sensation in my left hand, where the white mark still lingered. It felt as though the mark was pulsating, sending a tingling sensation throughout my body. I tried to shake off the feeling, dismissing it as mere imagination. We purchased the necessary supplies and headed back home. On our way, we noticed a small crowd gathered in front of a mysterious-looking shop. Curiosity got the better of us, so we decided to investigate. Inside the shop, there was a peculiar elderly woman sitting behind a counter filled with mystical artifacts. She looked at me with piercing eyes and beckoned me closer. I hesitated, but her gaze seemed to draw me in. "My child, I see the mark on your hand," she said in a voice that sent shivers down my spine. "It is the mark of a chosen one, a sign that you possess extraordinary abilities." I was taken aback. How did she know about the mark? Who was this woman, and what was she talking about? She continued, "Dame Academy is not just an ordinary institution. It is a school for gifted individuals like yourself. Your mark signifies that you have been chosen to unlock your true potential, Rovee." Fatima's eyes widened with excitement as she listened intently to the woman's words. It was as if fate had brought us to this very moment, where the mysteries surrounding the academy and the mark on my hand were slowly unraveling. The woman handed me a small, intricately designed locket. "Wear this locket at all times, young one. It will protect and guide you on your journey at Dame Academy." I thanked the woman and promised to take her words to heart. As we left the shop, Fatima could hardly contain her excitement. "Kuya, this is amazing! It seems like everything is falling into place." I couldn't help but feel a mix of apprehension and excitement. The upcoming journey to Dame Academy held a world of possibilities, but at the same time, I couldn't shake off the feeling that my life was about to change in ways I couldn't comprehend. Little did I know that this was just the beginning of an extraordinary adventure, where I would discover the true extent of my abilities, unravel the secrets of the academy, and face challenges that would test my courage and determination. As I held the locket close to my heart, I knew that I was destined for something greater than I could ever imagine.
