Ethan you're fired

424 Words
The hallway fell silent. Some employees looked uncomfortable.Others simply watched.Ethan remained still. No anger. No reaction.Just silence. Inside his mind though—One day.I will rise.Suddenly—“HEY!”A fierce voice echoed down the hallway.Everyone turned.Walking quickly toward them was a young woman with long dark hair and determined eyes.Natasha Ramirez. Behind her was a tall guy wearing a loose jacket. Reymart Vale.Natasha stepped directly in front of Ethan.“Is humiliating someone your daily hobby now?” she snapped at Mr. Delgado. Mr. Delgado frowned.“This is none of your business.”Natasha crossed her arms. “It becomes my business when you bully my friend.”Reymart stepped beside Ethan and casually placed an arm on his shoulder. “Yeah. If cleaning floors is so easy, why don’t you try doing it yourself?”Jane rolled her eyes. “Oh please. Are we defending the janitor now?” Natasha glared at her.“At least he works honestly. Can you say the same about yourself?”Rose looked irritated.“This is pathetic.”She turned away dismissively.“Let’s go Jane. I don’t waste time on people like them.”The two women walked away. Their laughter echoing faintly behind them. Mr. Delgado clicked his tongue.“You’re all wasting company time.”Then he looked at Ethan coldly.“Actually… I’ve had enough.”Ethan finally lifted his head slightly.Mr. Delgado pulled a folded paper from his folder and tossed it onto the janitor cart.“You’re fired.”The words landed heavily in the air.“You’re too slow, too quiet, and frankly too useless for this company.”Natasha’s eyes widened.“You can’t just fire him like that!” Mr. Delgado shrugged.“I just did.”Then he walked away without another word.Silence filled the hallway.Ethan slowly looked at the termination paper. Then he sighed softly.Natasha turned to him.“Ethan… I’m sorry…”Reymart frowned.“That guy is trash.”But Ethan simply smiled faintly. “It’s okay.”Natasha looked frustrated.“How can you say it’s okay?!”Ethan picked up his small worn backpack. Then he looked at his two friends.“Thank you… for defending me.”Reymart shook his head.“You’re too kind for this world, man.”Natasha looked at him quietly. She had always liked Ethan. But Ethan never seemed to notice.Or maybe he did…But chose not to see it. Ethan gave them a small nod.“I’ll be fine.” Then he turned and walked toward the building exit.
