After weeks of investigation, the royal authorities finally announced that they had found the person responsible for the Watson family m******e.
The suspect was Robin Watson, Martin Watson's younger brother.
When Eva heard the news, she refused to believe it.
Her uncle had been arrested and taken to prison, and Eva immediately went there to see him.
The moment she entered the prison cell, she looked at him with tears in her eyes.
“Uncle… how could you do this?”
Robin slowly raised his head.
“What are you talking about?”
“You killed my family!” Eva cried. “You killed Father, my siblings, everyone!”
Robin's expression hardened.
“I did not kill your family, Eva.”
“Then why is everyone accusing you?”
“If I wanted your family dead, I could have killed them years ago,” he replied bitterly. “Why would I wait until now? I had no reason to do this.”
Eva shook her head.
“But the evidence is against you.”
“One of the servants survived that night,” Eva continued. “She said you came to the gathering. She said you brought a special wine and gave it to everyone.”
Robin fell silent.
“Yes,” he finally admitted. “The wine was mine.”
Eva stared at him.
“Then you admit it!”
“I brought the wine,” Robin said. “But it was wine from my own house. I did not poison it. I wasn't even at the gathering when they died. I was at home.”
“Can anyone prove that?”
Robin looked away.
“No.”
Eva's voice became angry.
“How could you be so cruel? They were your family!”
For the first time, something changed in Robin's eyes.
“Eva…”
His voice became quieter.
“You have no idea how your family treated you.”
Eva froze.
“What do you mean?”
“You continue defending people who never truly cared for you.”
“My family may not have been perfect,” Eva replied, “but my father loved me. He was a good man. And you have no right to speak about them like that.”
Robin said nothing.
After a long silence, he finally whispered,
“Whoever killed your family can kill you too. I am not the murderer.”
But the investigation was already over.
The evidence was considered enough.
Robin Watson was sentenced to death.
Days later, Eva stood among the silent crowd as her uncle was taken to the execution ground.
She watched without saying a word.
Her eyes were empty.
When the execution was carried out, Eva remained completely still.
But something inside her refused to accept what she had witnessed.
Later that evening, she returned to the mansion with Ruby and Tina.
She sat quietly beside the window.
“Ruby…”
“Yes, Miss?”
Eva lowered her gaze.
“I don't think Uncle Robin was the murderer.”
Tina looked at her in surprise.
“Then who was?”
Eva stared into the darkness outside.
“I don't know.”
She paused.
“But someone wanted us to find a murderer quickly.”
Her voice became colder.
“And I think the real killer is still out there.”

Eva had barely returned to her mansion when the doors opened again.
This time, it was the Forge family.
Ethan's mother entered first, followed by several members of the family. Their faces were filled with anger and grief.
The moment Ethan's mother saw Eva, her emotions erupted.
“How could you?” she cried. “Ethan should never have been engaged to you!”
Eva froze.
“If he had never been promised to you, he would still be alive!”
“Please…” Eva whispered.
“You brought nothing but misfortune into his life. Look at what happened to him!”
Eva's eyes filled with tears.
“How can you blame me?” she asked, her voice trembling. “I wasn't even in the capital. I was in the village when it happened.”
She pressed a hand against her chest.
“I loved Ethan. I still do. Do you really think I wanted him to die?”
Ethan's mother said nothing more. She simply gave Eva one last bitter look before turning away.
The other women from the Forge family looked at Eva with sympathy.
Everyone knew what she had already suffered.
Her entire family was dead.
Her fiancé was dead.
And yet she was still being blamed for his death.
Eva stood silently until the Forge family finally left.
She wiped her tears and forced herself to remain calm.
She could not afford to break.
Not now.
The following morning, Eva received a summons from the palace.
King David wished to speak with her.
When Eva arrived, the King received her with a solemn expression.
“Eva, your father was a loyal and honorable man,” he said gently. “His death is a great loss to Veronica.”
He paused.
“The murderer has been punished. You should not carry this burden alone.”
Eva lowered her head respectfully.
“Thank you, Your Majesty.”
But despite his comforting words, Eva couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
Could the King himself know more about her father's death than he was revealing?
After leaving the King's chamber, Eva unexpectedly encountered Prince Robert David.
The third prince studied her quietly before speaking.
“Miss Eva, would you come with me? There is something I wish to discuss with you.”
Eva hesitated before following him.
They entered a quiet room away from the main halls and sat across from each other.
Robert looked at her calmly.
“How long had you been living away from the capital?”
Eva answered his questions carefully.
“I was sent to the village about a year ago because of my health.”
“And before that?”
“I lived with my family in the capital.”
Robert continued asking about her movements, her relationship with her family, and the circumstances surrounding her departure.
Finally, Eva's patience broke.
She looked directly at him.
“Do you suspect me?”
Robert remained silent.
“Do you think I killed my own family? I wasn't even here! How could you accuse me of something like that?”
“I am not accusing you,” Robert replied calmly.
He paused before continuing.
“From what I have learned, your relationship with your family was not always as good as people believed.”
Eva's expression immediately changed.
“You shouldn't say that.”
Robert didn't respond.
Eva stood abruptly.
“I have already lost everyone. I don't need anyone questioning my relationship with them.”
Without waiting for another word, she walked out.
Robert remained seated alone.
He stared at the closed door for several moments.
Then he quietly murmured,
“This case isn't as simple as it appears.”
His eyes narrowed.
“The more I look into it, the more complicated it becomes.”
Meanwhile, Eva returned to her room.
She closed the door behind her.
And for the first time since returning to the capital, she allowed herself to be completely alone.
Outside, the capital continued to whisper.
Inside, Eva began searching for the truth.
