MEETING AGAIN

Lora's POV I walked through the busy corridors of the Black Hills Pack's University, my heart still racing with the events that led me here. Two days ago, I had finally paid off my father's debts and freed my mother from my father's creditors. It was the happiest day of my life. I had done what I thought was impossible and it felt amazing. After the ‘one night thingy' with Mr hottie, I had rushed to collect my share of the money from the club. I didn't even wait for the stranger to wake up. And when I got the money, I paid off the debt. My mother was finally safe and I had rented a new house for her, away from my father's influence. I wouldn't want a scenario where the same event would happen again. I don't know what she went through while she was still in our creditors house, but I wouldn't want her to go through it again. I had even gotten a new phone for both of us, as a symbol of our new beginning. “Where did you get the money?” She had asked me when we were far away from the area. I couldn't bring myself to tell her the truth. I couldn't bring myself to tell her that I sold my virginity. It would shatter her into pieces. Instead I told her that a good Samaritan had helped me, and thankfully she believed me, without any doubts. The last thing I wanted was for her to start blaming herself about what I did. If care is not taken, she might commit suicide and I don't want that to happen at all. I don't want my efforts to go to waste. Now as I stood in front of the school gates, I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. I had taken control of my life and I was ready to start anew. Even though I won't see that stranger again, I'm grateful for the fact that he agreed to pay four hundred thousand dollars just for a night, even though it sounded ridiculous to my ears. I could vividly remember how he didn't want to have s*x with me when we got to his hotel room. If only he knew what he was talking about! That annoying manager wouldn't have paid me the money. “Young people should always be ready to do what they don't want, to get what they want,” My late grandmother's words echoed in my mind. “We are finally in San Jose University,” My best friend, Allison squealed in excitement as she threw her arms around me. I will never stop being grateful to her— for suggesting that idea to me and to repay her for her kindness. I helped her enroll too. Yes, with the money I got from the auction and luckily, we got the admission and here we are. “Yes, Allison. We are finally here. All thanks to you. I will never stop being grateful to you,” My lips curved into a smile as I returned the hug, but all of a sudden, a bell rang, causing us to pull away from the hug. “As much as I hate to break this to you, Lora, I have to get to class right away. I'll text you as soon as I'm done, okay? Remember to stay safe” She hugged me before running off to her class. I understood her excitement. It was the first day in school and she couldn't afford to be late. I can't afford to be late too, but my overly shy nature made it hard for me to ask other students for directions, so I wandered through, trying to make sense of the campus map. As I turned a corner, my wolf suddenly perked up, her ears twitching. “What is it, Zoey?” I asked, feeling a jolt of surprise. “I have no idea, Lora,” She answered. “But I think our mate is here. I can feel it,” My eyes almost bulged out of their sockets as I heard her words. Mate? I have a mate? Wasn't I supposed to remain without a mate forever? At least that was what my mother said….. Just then, my nose caught a scent. It was a rich masculine aroma, like the warmth of summer. It was earthly, with a subtle blend of rain and burning candles, but also sweet, like the ripest and juiciest fruit. The scent was intoxicating and somehow, I felt myself visibly drawn to it, my feet moving on its own accord, as I traced the scent to wherever it was coming from. “You have to find the source of that scent, Lora. You have to find it. Trace it,” Zoey urged me on, her excitement building. Even though I don't have any idea as to where I was going, I continued to trace the scent until I found myself standing outside a door which seemed like an office. “Open it,” Zoey urged again and after taking a deep breath, I pushed it open, my heart pounding in my chest. I held my breath as I waited patiently to see who it was, who my mate was. Suddenly, my eyes caught the sight of a man who seemed oddly familiar. The stranger! The same man who had taken my innocence in his hotel room a few days ago. The man whom I had sold my virginity to at Club X for the sum of four hundred thousand dollars. Oh my goodness! He sat behind a huge chair and from the look of it, I could tell that he was a professor here, at least judging from the fact that he was in the school premises, coupled with the books that were around him too. His eyes met mine and I felt a jolt of shock. Just then, my wolf whispered a single word in my ear: “Mate” We chorused at the same time. He didn't look shocked. He was surprised….. No, he wasn't surprised. I could see the amusement dangling in his eyes. The next minute, his lips curved into a smile and he stood up from the seat and made his way towards my direction. “Mate.” He repeated as he brought his hands to my face, but I jerked away after shooting him a harsh glare. “I, Lora Thompson, reject you…….” I trailed off when I realized that I didn't even know his name. Well who cares? “I can't accept you as my mate, stranger. Accept the rejection then we can pretend we never met each other” I said in a stern voice, but the next minute, a low chuckle escaped his lips. “Feisty kitten. I like that.” He said amidst his chuckles. “And who said you have the right to reject me?” He arched his brow, but I just hissed. “I have every right to reject you. Just accept the rejection and I'll pretend that we've never—” “I reject your rejection, Lily Paulson,”
