Alpha Devon’s POV
The whole hall was too full as I wondered if I was the one who invited all of these guests who were in attendance .
I was done greeting all the socialites present and it was time for me to find solace here in something, anything at all. It all seemed so rodelt as I caught sight of Isabella chatting alongside her friends, there was nothing enticing about that at all.
Amongst all the chaos, there was one person who caught my eye—Scarlet.
I couldn't take my eyes off her. She was different, you know? There was an air of mystery and strength about her that drew me in. It was like she had tmy magnetic pull that I couldn't resist. Every time I looked at her, my heart skipped a beat.
But then Isabella, always the observant one, noticed my intense gaze. She sauntered over, a hint of annoyance on her face. "Delvon, what's gotten into you? You've been staring at that maid all night," she said, her voice dripping with curiosity.
I brushed her off, not wanting to entertain her questions. "It's nothing, Isabella. Just let me be," I replied, my tone firm. I couldn't let her interfere with what I was feeling. Isabella huffed in frustration and stormed off, clearly not pleased with my dismissal.
Isabella has always been like that but she can’t always have me to herself. I was free to do anything I wanted whenever I wanted too.
As the night went on, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Was I under some sort of spell?
Why was I so captivated by Scarlet? I tried to approach her, to strike up a conversation, but every time I got near, my words failed me. All I could do was stare, lost in the depths of her eyes.
And then it happened. Our eyes met, just for a fleeting moment. It was like time stood still. But before I could gather my thoughts and make a move, she looked away and continued with her chores. It was as if she was avoiding me, or maybe she didn't feel the same inexplicable connection that I did.
Confusion swirled within me.
I couldn't understand why I felt so drawn to her. It was like she held some kind of power over me, and I couldn't resist it.
What was going on with me, was I going crazy!
I knew I had to find a way to break through the barriers that kept us apart. I needed to know if what I was feeling was real or just a figment of my imagination.
But for now, all I could do was watch from a distance, hoping that one day our paths would align and I would have the chance to discover the truth behind tmy intoxicating pull.
I saw a maid and I knew I needed someone to burn the desire that built up inside of me so I signaled her to follow me into the room.
****
As the door swung open, My eyes widened in surprise. There stood Scarlet, looking at me with a questioning gaze.
“What are you doing here?” I questioned but I got no answer.
Without hesitation, I dismissed the maid, wanting to be alone with Scarlet. But as I did, I couldn't help but notice the disappointment etched on her face.
It left me wondering what could have caused it.
“Why didn’t you knock before coming into my room? Don’t you have manners anymore?” I yelled at her putting on my trousers back.
“I… I wanted too..” she stammered and I knew she wasn’t here for any of her duties.
“Are you trailing me or something? I doubt you're in the right state of mind at all.”
“I’m sorry, this will never happen again.”
She still haven't answered why she wouldn’t knock before coming into my chambers.
What exactly was she looking for?
Curiosity getting the best of me, Delvon asked Scarlet why she didn't knock before entering. But to my surprise, she couldn't find the words to respond.
Instead, she just continued to stare at me, which started to grate on my nerves. He couldn't understand why she seemed so lost for words.
“Are you deaf or something or you don’t want to play with me? Do you want to get punished? Can’t you speak up?” I yelled, slamming my hands hard on the table.
She still kept on staring and I couldn’t bear it anymore.
“Get out.” I yelled out.
Just as Scarlet turned to leave, something unexpected happened.
Their wolves called out "mate" in unison, shocking and angering Delvon.
In a moment of frustration, I lashed out, rejecting Scarlet and claiming that she was nothing more than a maid he had bought.
“You better not think anything would happen out of this, I am your master and you would maintain that relationship.”
“Yes but aren’t you happy, I mean..“
“No I’m not, and it can never happen, I don’t know what you’re thinking about or what you thought would happen after this but it’s not happening.”
“But you’re my mate…. You can’t push me away.” She mumu as her voice trailed off.
“Listen and listen good, you’re nothing but a slave to me and I won’t want you to push me to the wall. I bought you and you belong to me, whatever just happened now must never get out, else I won't think twice before having you killed. “ I said coldly.
“Do you understand me?” I snapped at her.
“Yes, yes sir. No one would ever know about this.” She replied as I saw tears gather up at the corner of her eyes.
I insisted that no one must hear about our encounter, leaving Scarlet heartbroken as I walked away with a frown.
As I made my way back to the hall, my mind was filled with conflicting thoughts. How could a maid be my mate? It was a concept that challenged my beliefs and left me wrestling with my emotions.
