Mate?

Alpha Cody’s POV

MATE! My wolf shouted over and over as I pounced on her and pinned her down. It was when I saw the mark on her neck that I understood she is a slave in my brothers pack and I knew I had to take her back or suffer the wrath of the moon goddess. I shifted and it seemed that she couldn’t tell I was her mate. When she asked what pack lands she was on I told her the name of my pack she looked relieved and asked me to help her. I wanted to rescue her more than anything but I knew I couldn’t, she did something terrible and only the moon goddess could release her.

I shifted back into my wolf and she got onto my back. I walked around for about an hour enjoying the tingles all over as she slept on my back when I decided it was time. I mind linked my brother to tell him I was bringing a slave back to him that escaped and I could tell he was furious. Once I got there I didn’t have time to shift and tell my brother that she was my mate before he dragged her off to be punished. We went inside and I was greeted by his Luna and we sat down to have some coffee and talk when the pack slut walked in and started hanging all over me. I shrugged her off but she just sat next to me and started talking non stop. My wolf was annoyed when a sudden wave of pain hit me and I fell off the chair and dropped to the floor. I felt like I was being ripped in two when I felt my brother asking me what was wrong and trying to pick me up when I managed to whisper ‘she’s my mate’ and thank goodness he understood who I meant because he took off running as fast as he could and within minutes the pain was bearable. He came back and looked so sorry but I couldn’t be mad he didn’t know although I wanted the guards killed!

When I came to my senses we decided to go to Jacob’s office and talk. He sighed and said ‘when do you want to do the rejection?’ I looked at him disgusted and told him I would not reject her! He of course was irritated and said ‘she is a slave! You know she could be here for the rest of her her life if she doesn’t atone for her sin against the goddess!’ I don’t care I will find a way to help her, she doesn’t know I’m her mate and I want to keep it that way for now. I don’t want to get her hopes up when I’m not sure yet if there is any way that we can ever be together.’ He let out a groan and rubbed his hands down his face ‘okay’ he said and walked out of his office. I decided to go check on my mate. My wolf was going crazy whining in my head to see her and make sure she’s okay. We walked to the servants quarters and opened the door. The scene in front of me was gruesome, she was cut and bruised on almost every inch of her body and I could smell c/u/m on her body. My wolf was pis/sed! Just then the other slaves stopped helping her and looked at me all suddenly dropping to their knees and showing me their necks in submission. ‘Please continue to help her’ I asked them and they all nodded and went back to what they were doing. I mind linked my brother and told him next time any of the slaves are punished that they are not to be sexually assaulted since we now know the mate can feel it. He agreed and said he was so sorry that he didn’t know the guards assaulted them during their punishment. The guards that were involved in my mates punishment were demoted to omegas, literally one step above a slave. They were not happy but r**e is not something we condone.

I have to figure out how to help her there has to be something, some way to free her..to free all of them! I made my way home and prayed to the goddess for guidance. I have seen her before, my family is a descendant of her blood line so I know she can hear me…I just hope she answers. I went to bed hoping to hear from her. I awoke to find myself in an open field next to a lake and I knew she had decided to see me. Just then I hear someone clear their throat and as I look to my right I see the great goddess in the flesh and she just gives me a soft smile and starts talking.

‘Cody I want you to know that I normally prevent mates from feeling the bond while they are enslaved by your brother but I made an exception this time because I need your help. You see too many slaves are piling up and none of them have figured out how to legally free themselves yet. She sighs, they are not meant to be slaves forever. They are supposed to right their wrong and be freed but none of them have understood that yet. They just accepted that they are slaves and will die as such. ‘What can I do?’ I ask her. She looks at me with a mischievous smile and starts to tell me her plan. I smile and feel so excited! My mate will be free soon I just have to guide her in the right direction, just enough that she sees what she is supposed to do and hopefully she will lead the others to their redemption as well. I wake up with a jolt to the sunshine in my face and the birds chirping happily outside my window and I I smile to myself, hop out of bed and head to the shower to go see my mate. Get ready my little mate, here I come!
