Chapter 5: Finally meeting them

1451 Words
It had been a couple of months and Gianna sat on her bed, staring at the computer screen in front of her. She had been searching for her biological parents for months, but she had yet to find any leads. It was frustrating, but she refused to give up. She knew that her mom and Nanny Greta would never approve of her search. They had always been protective of her, and they didn't want her to get hurt. But Gianna couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing in her life. She needed to know where she came from, and who her real parents were. As she scrolled through page after page of search results, she heard a knock on her door. She quickly minimized the screen and turned to see Jayden and Jaxel standing in the doorway. "Hey, what's up?" she asked, trying to sound casual. "We need to talk to you," Jayden said, his voice serious. Gianna's heart sank. She knew that tone of voice. It meant that they had found out about her search. "What is it?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady."We know what you've been doing," Jaxel said, his expression stern. Gianna felt a wave of panic wash over her. She had been so careful, she didn't think they would find out. "We're not going to tell Mom and Nanny Greta," Jayden said, his voice softening. "But we want to help you."Gianna's head shot up. "What?" "We want to help you find your biological parents," Jaxel said, a determined look in his eyes. Gianna couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her brothers were willing to help her, even though they knew how dangerous it could be. "Are you sure?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Jayden nodded. "We're sure. We don't want you to do this alone." Gianna felt a rush of gratitude wash over her. She had always felt like the odd one out in the family, but now she knew that her brothers loved her just as much as she loved them. "Thank you," she said, her voice choked with emotion. Jayden and Jaxel sat down on the bed next to her, and they spent the next few hours talking about their plan. They would start by looking through all of the adoption records they could find, and then they would try to track down any living relatives. Gianna felt a sense of excitement building inside of her. She had never felt so alive before. She knew that finding her biological parents would be a difficult and emotional journey, but she was ready for it. Over the next few weeks, Gianna, Jayden, and Jaxel spent all their free time searching for any information about her biological parents. They went to libraries, talked to adoption agencies, and even hired a private investigator. But all their efforts seemed to be in vain. They couldn't find any information that would lead them to her parents. Gianna was starting to lose hope. She had been so sure that they would find something, but now it seemed like a lost cause. One night, as they were going through old adoption records, Jaxel let out a whoop of excitement. "I think I found something!" he exclaimed. Gianna and Jayden rushed over to see what he had found. Jaxel pointed to a name on the page. "This could be your biological mother," he said. Gianna's heart was pounding as she read the name. It was a common name, but something about it felt familiar. "We need to find her," she said, her voice shaking. Jayden nodded. "We'll do whatever it takes." Over the next few days, they tracked down the woman's address. Gianna was nervous as they drove up to the house. She had no idea what to expect. When they arrived she was stunned, the woman was crazy rich just like her mom Clari maybe she was even richer. When they knocked on the door, a woman in her fifties answered. Gianna's heart skipped a beat as she looked at her. She could see a resemblance, but it was hard to tell. "Can I help you?" the woman asked, looking at them curiously. Gianna took a deep breath. "I'm looking for my biological mother," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. The woman was about to shut the door when she saw the locket Gianna was wearing. "Where did you get that from?" "Oh, you mean my locket? I've been wearing it since I was born. The woman's expression softened. "Come in," she said, stepping aside to let them enter. They sat down in the huge living room, and the woman introduced herself as Paisley. Gianna told her the story of her adoption and how she had been searching for her biological parents. Paisley listened quietly, her eyes filling with tears. "I'm so sorry," she said. "I had no idea." Gianna felt a sense of relief wash over her. She had been so scared that her biological mother wouldn't want anything to do with her. As they talked, Paisley revealed that Gianna's biological father had gotten into a car accident and so was in the hospital, unfortunately, they couldn't go and visit him right away. But she had kept a box of his belongings, and she offered to give it to Gianna. She happily took the things and went home. NEXT DAY... Gianna's heart raced with a mix of anticipation and nervousness as she made her way to the hospital. Just yesterday, she met her biological mother, Paisley, after years of wondering about her birth parents. The emotional reunion had been overwhelming, but it filled her with a sense of belonging she had never experienced before. Today, she was about to meet her biological father, Joe Suarez, for the very first time. Joe had been admitted to the hospital following a severe car accident. Paisley discovered this heartbreaking news soon after returning home from reuniting with Gianna. Overwhelmed with worry for Joe, she knew that Gianna had a right to know about her father's condition and insisted that they visit him together. As they entered the hospital, Gianna clutched Paisely's hand tightly, seeking comfort from the uncertainty that lay ahead. Together, they approached the reception desk to inquire about Joe's room. The nurse, upon hearing their request, sympathetically directed them to the fourth floor. Taking the elevator, Gianna's thoughts were filled with questions. What would Joe be like? Would they get along? Would he accept her? The questions buzzed in her mind like a swarm of bees, but she tried to push them aside, focusing on the present moment. When they reached the fourth floor, Gianna took a deep breath before following Paisley down the corridor. They arrived at Joe's room and noticed a small crowd of concerned family members huddled outside. Paisley recognized Joe's sister, Rebecca, and approached her. Rebecca's eyes filled with tears as she embraced Paisley. "I'm so glad you're here," she whispered, her voice choked with emotion. "Joe needs all the support he can get right now." Gianna stood beside her mother, silently observing the scene. Rebecca introduced herself to Gianna, smiling warmly despite the worry etched on her face. "You must be Gianna," she said. "Joe has talked about you so much. He's been waiting for this day." Gianna's heart skipped a beat. The realization that Joe had been longing to meet her too overwhelmed her. She felt the warmth of acceptance, even without having laid eyes on her father yet. Rebecca led them inside the room, where a man who seemed to be in his 30s lay in a hospital bed, his face bruised and bandaged. Tubes and wires connected him to various machines, monitoring his vital signs. The room was filled with a mix of beeping sounds and the hushed conversations of concerned relatives. Paisley approached Joe's bedside, her eyes welling up with tears. She gently held his hand and leaned in to whisper words of comfort. Gianna stood back, unsure of what to do or say. The room felt heavy with emotion, and she could sense the deep connection between her parents. Slowly, Joe's eyes fluttered open, and a weak smile spread across his face when he saw Paisley. "You came," he murmured, his voice filled with relief. Paisley nodded, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Of course, Joe. We're here for you. And I brought someone else." Gianna stepped forward, her voice trembling. "Hi, Dad," she said softly, using the word she had longed to say her entire life. Joe's eyes widened with a mix of surprise and joy. "Gianna," he whispered, his voice filled with immense love. "I've been waiting for this moment. I'm so sorry..."
