I AM NOBODY’S MATE – LEAVING TO THE UNIVERSITY

1959 Words
Melania – So many people, especially Brock, always seem to know where I live. And those dangerous wolves definitely bring some thrills to my life. Brock is convinced that we're meant to be together, but I'm not quite ready to entertain that idea. Just because I've learned more about my past doesn't mean I'm willing to give up my freedom. I refuse to be tied down to anyone. In a burst of excitement, I told my mother about my plan to head to the University a week before classes started. She seemed a bit nostalgic, knowing how spontaneous I can be. After a warm hug, she shared in my excitement. In a rush, I packed my bags and arranged to swap cars with my sister. We both had old cars, but I didn't want anyone to recognize my car. Thankfully, my sweet sister happily agreed to swap her old VW for my old Camaro. After changing the paperwork and loading up the car, I felt a mix of fear and excitement for the journey ahead. Brock – I was sitting in my cozy little office when one of my agents called to report on Melania's movements. But to my amazement, it wasn't my agent on the line - it was Melania herself, calling me Wolfie. The sound of her voice made my heart race. I couldn't resist the pull of her wild, untamed spirit. It was clear to me that she must have inherited the alpha genes from her biological father, as she effortlessly commanded the loyalty of my men. And I even found myself compelled to follow her lead when she insisted on calling off my men. I couldn't help but wonder, "Who are you, Melania?" Melania – I felt so liberated, no one holding me back. Cruising with the wind in my hair, I synced up my phone and played my favorite tunes. With a long 10-hour drive ahead of me, I've already booked a hotel for the week. As I passed the hotel that my family and I had stayed in. Seeing it while on my way to the University, my thoughts were of Brock, that handsome man, filled my mind. I can't help but remember him in his bathing suit, those strong muscles and chiseled jawline. If I ever decide to take that step, he's the one I'd choose. I can almost hear Anastacia teasing me in my head, calling me a "Horn Dog." Anastacia – "Hey you are the one that thought it. Just agreeing, so when do we hit him up?" Melania – "Never, but it is nice to dream. Those dreams are erotic, but they are just a dream." Anastacia – "You know we could just have your way with Brock and leave." Melania – "Really?? Listen here, Anastacia, I am not a “love them and leave them” kind of gal. When we have our first time, it will be special." Anastacia – "Well, I cannot think of anyone more special than our True Mate." Melania – Anastacia huffs and goes into the back of my mind. Laughing, I decided I liked her. "Anastacia? What is it like when we shift into your form? Will it hurt?" Anastacia– "It has been so long since you first shifted. We used to do it often before war hit. The Moon Goddess designed me to heal you as quickly as possible. Normally, you wouldn't be able to shift into me until you were at least 13. When I was four years old, I was given to you. We were pups running with our parents; it was great fun. The first time you shifted it was painful for you, but after that it became second nature. It has been so long since we were together, it may be very painful the first time again. After that, it is second nature. You have no clue right now how liberating and free you feel after you shift and run through nature. It is amazing!" Melania: "When do you feel we will once again shift into wolf form again? When do you think you will be ready, Anastacia?" Anastacia: "Almost all your pains and terrible memories have been inside me since you were 5 years old. Every night I will bring your memories to the surface again. Can you imagine holding a lifetime's worth of sorrow inside of you and repressing it? It will explode at some point. Sorry, some nights will be horrific." Melania–"I understand. I am fearful of them. Will they destroy me mentally?" Anastacia – "You are strong Melania! You may get hurt, but you will be fine!" Melania – "What was my mother like? Do you remember?" Anastacia–"What I can remember is that you almost look identical to her. You have your dad's eye color, though. I was just a pup too, so I remember little. I do remember your mother laughing a lot, and that she constantly hugged us. Melania, we are not just werewolves, we are Lykens, we are stronger than your normal werewolves. We do not have to shift fully. You have the power to just use my nails from my paws. We are strong. Well, at least once I am back to full health, we will be." As we arrived in Springdale, it was already late in the morning. I was utterly exhausted. While not exactly luxurious, the hotel felt like a palace to me at that moment. I parked in a brightly lit spot in front of the hotel, making sure to have my mace ready in case of trouble. After stepping into the lobby, ringing the bell to summon the night attendant, and receiving my card key, I made my way to my room. Once inside, I shut the door and collapsed onto the bed without even bothering to shower or change. My bags landed on the floor as I fell asleep face-first, completely worn out. In my dream, I found myself in what looked like a daycare, holding another little girl's hand who also had green eyes like me. We seemed to stick to each other like glue. When a little boy hit her, I grabbed him by the collar and punched him. "Well, I have not changed, have I?" I chuckled to myself. I grabbed the little girl's hand; she was older than I. I could feel we were close and called her Crystal, but my memory was faded. The scene changed, and we were at a funeral with two caskets. I saw my mommy and daddy crying. The scene switched again, and my daddy, mommy, and I were moving into a castle. People were bowing to us everywhere, and Dad made a speech about serving the kingdom. I was confused. "Why are we leaving our home to come to Grandpa and Grandma's house?" I was taken to my new room and assigned a babysitter they called a nanny. The scene changed again, and there was a man who looked like my dad. I was sure they were brothers, and they did not seem to like each other; they were yelling at each other. The man stormed off, often shouting about how the crown was supposed to be his. The scene changed once more. My mother was walking with me in the garden, and we sat near a fishpond. Dancing around the pond, my mother cried. As I ran up to her, I pleaded, "Mommy, please do not cry." She pulled me into a tight hug, and the dream faded away. The alarm is blaring some random music, yelling to my subconscious to wake me up. Throw my phone across the room. The phone just keeps playing that awful music. I realized I might as well get up; I have a lot to do today. While looking at myself in the mirror, I was feeling disgusted, I fell asleep in my clothes, and I felt stinky and gross. I hurriedly unpacked my clothes and hung them up. Today was a big day, so I picked out a black pencil skirt that was just above my knees, I then selected a red silky shirt with a V-neck starting where the buttons end. Finally, slipping on black heals with the ensemble. I needed to go job hunting today. Now everything had been laid out to wear, I jumped into the shower, and it felt amazing. After showering, I put on a robe and fixed my hair with some soft curls. I touched my eyes with eyeliner and my full lips with lip gloss. Anastacia laughed when our stomachs started growling. I realized that I hadn't eaten dinner last night; I was too excited and tired. We needed to hurry and finish getting dressed, so we could eat. I made sure to talk to the hotel desk clerk and asked her for directions to the closest breakfast diner. I drove for about 5 minutes up the road and spotted the little privately owned restaurant the hotel clerk had mentioned. The scent of bacon filled the air, making my stomach growl with a ferocious roar, demanding to be fed. I quickly parked my car outside the diner and walked in, waiting to be seated. The host approached and asked if I was waiting for anyone. I shook my head no, and she led me to a small booth in the corner. I appreciated being out of the center of attention. As I scanned the menu, I decided on bacon, eggs over medium, home fries, sourdough toast, and pancakes. I always ate a lot, despite being athletic. I noticed many things about myself that I called my superpowers. I could eat more than most people, hear anything within a block radius, see farther than any of my friends, run faster, and was super strong. I considered these abilities as my own superpowers. I was in desperate need of caffeine, so I ordered a Frappuccino and an Orange Juice. The waitress walked off after taking my order and handed me a local newspaper. I chuckled at the outdated gesture, as no one has read newspapers since the internet became popular. Setting the paper aside, I quickly texted my mother and sisters to let them know I had arrived safely. As I scrolled through the messages, I noticed several missed texts from an unknown number. I reluctantly opened the oldest one. "Melania, we need to talk," it read. Then another, "Melania, this is my phone number, this is Brock." I deleted the texts and powered off my phone, resolving to get a new number that day. I felt guilty for ignoring him, but I knew I had to stay strong. Like Superman's weakness is Kryptonite, my weakness is Brock. I couldn't let him distract me from my career goals. Pushing thoughts of Brock from my mind, I looked up to see the server bringing my food. Grateful for the prompt service, I eagerly dug in. Across the room, I noticed a girl with striking green eyes, similar to my own. However, her eyes were too green, like she had contact lenses. When she caught me staring, I looked away casually and focused on my meal. While I dined, I used my phone to search for the nearest veterinarians. This was part of my plan to work at a vet's office, as I aspired to become a veterinarian and eventually open my own clinic. Lost in thought while researching, I felt Anastacia growing agitated. She kept urging me to look up, and when I did, I put on a polite smile. The girl in front of me returned the smile and said, "Hi, I know this sounds weird, but I swear I know you. What is your name?"
