Mia stepped out of the kitchen, having finished her last order. Luna and the others had been teasing her nonstop, and she needed a break. Plus, she wanted to keep an eye on Adrian especially with Ethan around. Who knew what that crazy stalker might say?
She leaned casually against the doorframe, trying to act like she wasn’t watching them. Then it happened.
Adrian stood up from his chair.
Her eyes narrowed.
"What is he planning now?" she muttered in her head.
He started walking toward her. Slowly, confidently, that same smile plastered on his face, the one that got under her skin.
"You’ve had your meal," she said, arms folded, brow furrowed. "Don’t you think it’s time to head home?"
He didn’t respond.
Just kept walking.
Closer.
And closer.
Her heartbeat picked up. Something felt... off.
He wasn’t stopping.
She instinctively tried to back away but the door behind her left her nowhere to go.
He stopped right in front of her, just inches away.
His left hand rose and pressed against the door beside her head, silently caging her in.
Mia met his gaze. She could hear his heartbeat. steady, strong, close. Too close.
The warmth of his body radiated into hers. His presence... overwhelming.
She wanted to push him away. She really did.
But something in her didn’t move. Something wanted him to stay.
"Wha—what are you—" she murmured.
Adrian gently brushed her lips with his fingers, silencing her.
The touch lingered, warm and deliberate.
His fingers glided down to her chin, grazing her skin, sending shivers through her.
"You've got something on your lips," he whispered, smiling.
Before she could react, he leaned in closer.
She could feel his heartbeat, no longer just hear it.
Why wasn’t she stopping this?
Why did it feel so... right?
Just as their lips were about to meet, Adrian paused.
He held her gaze.
In that moment, it felt like he was silently asking her for permission, no words, just eyes.
She didn’t move. She couldn’t.
Her body had already answered.
Then slowly, he leaned in again.
Mia’s lips parted slightly, breath quickening.
But instead of a kiss, his tongue traced softly across her lower lip.
Her body melted.
It felt like fire l*****g through ice.
She forgot how to breathe.
Mia's gaze drifted to Adrian's tongue, and her eyes widened as she spotted a piece of potato clinging to it.
That must have been from when she was cutting potatoes earlier.
Before she could process the thought, a high-pitched scream pierced the air.
Mia's head jerked up, and she turned to see Liam, Pierre, and Luna staring at her and Adrian, their faces a picture of shock.
Adrian's eyes met hers, and for a moment, they just looked at each other. Then, he stepped back, his eyes dropping to his waist.
Mia followed his gaze and felt her face heat up as she realized she was holding onto him.
She hadn't even realized she had grabbed him. She quickly released her grip, her hands feeling like they were on fire.
Adrian's lips curled into a smile as he turned and walked away, leaving Mia standing there, frozen in embarrassment.
It wasn't until Luna called out her name that Mia snapped out of her back to reality. She turned to see her friends staring at her, their eyes wide with excitement.
As she turned back to the table, her eyes met Ethan's, and her heart skipped a beat. He was watching her with an intense gaze, his expression unreadable. Mia's face burned with mortification.
What had she done?
