ANCIENT EGYPT
The two guards on duty at the entrance to the Pharaoh’s palace stood sharply to attention when they saw the new head of the first army, Anlet-Un-Ri, approaching.
One of them gave the secret knock to inform the guards within to open the main door and allow the mighty soldier to enter.
Once she had done so, and the great door had been closed once more, one of the guards turned to his comrade and asked: “Did you see her the other day in the arena?”
“No,” replied the other, clearly disappointed. “I was at my post all afternoon, just my luck. I heard she was magnificent.”
“She was,” agreed the first. “I’ve never seen anything like it. She was invincible.”
“Did you hear that Pharaoh made her head of the first army as a reward?”
