Note: what follows is anecdotal and unconfirmed.
1. When an afflicted is completely transparent, and have been for anywhere from two days to three, there is a marked decline in the need for bodily nourishment. The moisture in the air, the dew on the grass, is often enough. One can speak no louder than a whisper. To the unafflicted these whispers are barely audible, and easily mistaken for a susurrus in the trees. Ghosts can detect other ghosts by their body heat. All senses are sharpened, such as night vision, acute hearing. Bodies get lighter and lighter.
2. Reports suggest the afflicted hear a call to go up and out. Source of call unconfirmed, destination uncertain, some rumors suggest to the old ones.
3. No afflicted have returned once they have left.
