Fresh start

Unknown to Ivan I'd kept in touch with my best friend Lilly, She helped me plan my escape I never told her what I was running from just that I needed help to getaway.

I have been saving money over the past 3 years, in small amounts so it wasn't noticed. I have managed to save $1500 and brought a car a few days ago, it isn't anything special in fact It's a piece of s**t but I just needed it to last long enough to get me to my destination.

I left the car parked in a street two blocks from my house just in case I get caught before I get to it at least then Ivan won't know about it so I'd be able to try and run again.

I have already placed a small bag with essentials in the car, so I just needed to get myself out without Ivan waking, I have a plan for that and hopefully, my plan works. I went to the doctors a few days ago claiming I couldn't sleep and was prescribed sleeping tablets, I guess you know what I'll be using them for.

Tonight when Ivan gets home from work I will have his favorite meal ready and his favorite drink all with added extras, Fingers crossed the tablet's work and I can escape without him waking.

I've just heard Ivan's car pull up, I'm so nervous my hands are shaking, I just hope I don't screw this up because if I do I'm not sure I'd make it out alive, He's told me plenty of times before that if I ever left him I would end up dead.

"Hi babe, how was work? Dinner will be ready in about 5 mins" I say as he walks into the room, trying to sound happy.

 He walks over and wraps his arm around my waist kissing me on the cheek.

"Dinner smells delicious babe! It smells like my favorite, just let me wash up then we can eat. I was thinking we could eat in the lounge tonight." He replied. 

I am suddenly feeling nervous, its very rare we're allowed food in the lounge. The change makes me panic, what if he knows! He'll kill me for sure. I take the plates in the lounge and hand his plate to him I hope he doesn't feel my handshaking,He just smiles and thanks me.

we've eaten and I've washed and put the dishes away. Now we're relaxing on the sofa. I'm like this for the next few hours until I arrive in Nevada It's only then that I can finally take my first full breath in three years because for now, I'm safe.

When I finally make it to Lily's house I sit in the drive and breathe knowing tonight I will be safe, knocking on the car window makes me jump looking up i see lily standing there I open the car and run into my friends arms there I cry and cry for the teenager I was who feel in love with the wrong man and for the three years of my life that followed at the hands of a monster, I just hope that Ivan forgets me and moves on but I know that's wishful thinking and something tells me I haven't heard the last from him especially with how i left him he doesn't like to lose.
