23 Vigil Sure, we had a s**t ton of stuff to talk about. Make right, but Mila had come over, vulnerability plastered on her face, and I knew my waiting, my planning would finally come to fruition. I’d gotten a text from Devon telling me exactly what I’d told her, but he also texted he didn’t want to see her home before sunrise. Little punk. He’d never get an argument out of me, though. Having his blessing to pursue his mom meant more to me than I’d ever considered with a woman before. It eased a bit of that ache in my chest. Made that feeling of rightness in my gut solidify into a block of defined truth. I’d told Mila she belonged to me, and I didn’t doubt one goddamn syllable of that sentence. Now I’m going to show her. I led Mila upstairs to my room and kicked aside the damp towel
