“It’s a simple question,” Calden said calmly, his voice betraying nothing of his inner turmoil.
“I don’t have to answer you. She has nothing to do with you.” Daniel narrowed his eyes in suspicion. “How did you know she’s here?”
Calden remained silent, his jaw set in a hard line.
“Who called you?” Daniel demanded, stepping closer with aggressive posture.
“I just want to know if she’s okay.”
“That’s none of your concern,” Daniel shot back, his protective instincts flaring. “You answer my question first. Who called you?”
A sudden, dark idea struck him.
Daniel’s eyes narrowed to slits. “Did you have something to do with the car crash?”
Calden’s frown deepened at the accusation. “I don’t know what you are talking about.”
