Halfway through, Jacki took a break. She made herself lunch and opened the other bottle of chardonnay. The meal was nothing elaborate. It seldom was when she cooked for herself. It was just frozen tuna burgers on a whole wheat bun with red onion, tomato, and Dijon mustard. She took the burger back to her table and ate it as she continued to read Sterling’s book.
Jacki found parts of it hilarious. Before their romantic relationship began, Sterling asked her trainer (and later Master) how much he would charge to let her run her hands over his muscular body. After making love with Peter, Jacki could relate. Parts were tragic, as when, after a blowup, she withheld the gift of her submission and left her partner.
