The Novice
One Friday morning not long after the swim team bacchanal, Peter announced to Caile that at five o’clock that afternoon, they would be having Hal and Sarah Upton over for cocktails. Hal was a professor of economics at the university. Sarah, though also a PhD, by choice did not work outside the home. They were both from Sussex, England, but they had met when they were students at Oxford.
