After breakfast, I followed Felix to the office, but in a separate car. I used to be his secretary, but then I was his personal assistant.
It won't be nice working more closely with him. He's cold and feel his better than everyone else. I don't know; maybe he was.
I relaxed in the black Range Rover. I never believed I would experience that kind of wealth in my life. But who was I kidding? I knew I'd experience this kind of wealth and more. I'd always been very determined, hardworking, consistent, and passionate. I always got what I wanted and deserved.
As for the contract marriage between my boss and me. I was the one who proposed the idea of him getting a fake marriage to get the contract, and you needed to see the way he gave me a condescending look. Who was I to speak without being told to, then give advice?
But on a good day, the investors were in his office having a brief chat when I was called in to bring in some documents.
“Mr. Blackwood, this is a very organized and dedicated company. We need people as responsible as a married man.” I heard one of the men say immediately I walked in.
Mr. Blackwood scoffed, leaning back on his chair. Like he was taking them for a joke. “Not to worry, soon you all would hear of my wedding. I have a beautiful fiancée, just relax,” he said, smirking.
That is a complete lie, because as we all know, Felix doesn't keep a woman. He's too arrogant for that. Too hot even; many women throw themselves at him.
“Sir, we would have to deny you this contract…”
“Hey, honey, come over here.” Felix was referring to me, but I didn't believe it.
“Sir?” I asked, pointing at myself.
“Honey, c'mon, stop being shy and come over here. This is the beautiful fiancée I was talking about. I'd have loved to keep her a secret for much longer, but you know.” he said to the investors after I came over to him. He put his heavy arm on my small shoulder, sending shivers down my spine.
I walked into the office building with Felix, my new husband by my side. And immediately we got in, everyone of the staff had stood in assembly to welcome and congratulate us.
I stood there so shy and appreciative of their congrats until I saw Felix walking away.
“Go back to your duty, everyone,” he announced without showing any gratitude.
His best friend, Philip, rushed next to him and said. “And is this not supposed to be your honeymoon phase, Mr. Married man? I was shocked when I heard you were coming back into the office just the next day after you had a wedding of the century.” Philip was such a talkative person.
“Well, Philip, if the man doesn't work, then how is he expected to take care of his wife and the beautiful family we just started?” Felix responded as they kept walking.
I knew he was being sarcastic, but still those words found a way to send butterflies into my stomach.
“Mrs. Blackwood! Mrs. Blackwood! Mrs. Blackwood?” It wasn't until the woman tapped me gently that I realized I was the “Mrs. Blackwood” she was referring to.
“Sorry. What is it?” I asked.
“Mr. Blackwood asked me to take you to your new office.” She replied.
“Yeah, right, let's go then.” New job, new office.
It was very close to the CEO's office, given that I was now his personal assistant.
“Have a nice day, ma'am,” the woman said before leaving.
I wanted to take a moment to admire my new big and spacious office, but I needed to respond to Damian’s message. I can't lie, it has been on my mind ever since, and I don’t know what to say to him.
But how could I have missed it? That, of course, he was a brother to my fake husband. My fake brother-in-law.
As I was about to send a text to Damian, the telephone in my office rang, so I hurried to pick it up.
“Mrs. Blackwood speaking,” I said.
“Yes, Mrs. Blackwood, could you come over to Mr. Blackwood's office this minute?” It was Felix on the phone.
I smiled, “Of course, I’d be right there.”
Felix was being nicer to me since we got married. Well, this marriage might not be as bad as I dreaded… might.
