I tried so hard to stay away.
I’d sent Dominick everything I’d managed to dig up on Dell to help assuage my guilt. And I’d sent him the money he needed to settle his debts to… well, I suppose it was more guilt. For a few days, I’d even managed not to think of the coin Chloe wore around her neck, but it was difficult to pretend that I’d put it all behind me with Dominick calling and texting me all the time. When I finally couldn’t resist anymore, I’d felt her sadness, her pain, an overwhelming sense of loss, and I was ready to burn the entire city down thinking he’d somehow managed to lose her. Again!
Seeing them so obviously happy and in love triggered something ugly in me that I hadn’t felt in all the weeks the three of us had spent together- jealously.
