Elijah’s POV
“Dude, pranks... yeah, pranks... gonna teach her good.“ Elijah mumbled while his head was nodding forward.
His eyes began to drop and his mumbling became less coherent. He was clearly under the influence of something — traumas of his past, chaos, and hate.
Elijah’s phone buzzed in his pocket, breaking the spell of his drowsy state. His fingers struggling to coordinate as he tried to answer the call.
unknown number...
“Hello?” he slurred, his voice barely above his whisper.
As he listened to the voice on the other end, his expression changed form curiousity to a more focused grin.
“Yeah, I’ve got it, she’s going to pay for what she did.” Elijah’s words were dripping with malice.
He went outside the bar and Swyne followed him.
“This is the thing I hated the most when Elijah's being drunk,” Swyne’s wipe his lips with his arm and continue to walk outside with Elijah.
Elijah went to the parking lot and he opened his car’s front seat, but Swyne stopped him from entering into his car.
“What’s your problem dude?” Elijah's voice was a bit offended mixed of anger.
He looked in the eyes of Swyne.
“Where are you going?” Swyne's voice was serious right now.
“I will go home,” Elijah said.
Swyne knows that Elijah’s telling lie because he’s holding his collar.
“At who’s condo?” Swyne’s asking sarcastically.
“Mine, are you i***t?” Elijah answered.
He removed the hands of Swyne’s from his car door and went inside. As he started the the engine, Swyne knocked at his car's window.
He ignored Swyne’s and drove his car away.
Swyne rushed on his car, and started to drive his car to follow Elijah. His eyes were fixed on Elijah’s car as he followed him, his mind racing with worst-case scenarios. He knew that Elijah was in no state to be driving when he’s drunk, and he was worried about where he was headed.
Elijah’s phone buzzed again.
unknown number...
“Yeah?” he slurred with his voice full of anticipation.
“I’ll take care of it.” he growled.
Elijah didn’t think of anything, he didn’t ask who the one was talking to... But there is one thing that catches his attention. It was the name of Harper.
Swyne continued to follow Elijah’s car, knowing that Elijah was not in the right mind at that time. And what bothered him the most was the phone call between Elijah and the other person, for him it was a recipe for a disaster.
Elijah’s car stopped in front of a high-rise condo building, which looked familiar to Swyne’s eye.
“Shit.” Swyne whispered angrily.
“This was the building where Harper had lived.” He rushed to park his car and followed Elijah inside.
Duke’s POV
He was enjoying himself inside the bar talking to a new girl not knowing that his friends had both left.
“Do you want to kiss me right now, boy?” the girl beside him, made a move on Duke.
“One night stand,” he answered her, and gave her a wide smile.
The girl slapped his face, and Duke didn’t expect the girl’s reaction to be like that.
“W-what’s with the two slaps?” he said with disappointment and confusion.
“That’s for all the girls you love before, and this one is for me.”
The girl slapped him again, her voice rising above the music and chatter in the bar.
“You think you can just use me for a one night stand and then leave me afterwards? Think again, boy.” She turned to leave, but not before grabbing her purse and tossing scathing look at Duke. “I am also a player, and you’re a boring human.”
Duke watched her go. He was still rubbing his sore cheek, his disappointment had turned into amusement before that; it was the first time that a girl had treated him like that.
As he turned his head to find Swyne and Elijah, they were nowhere to be found. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and started to contact Elijah, but he wasn’t answering his phone and neither Swyne’s phone.
“Where are these idiots? They left me alone without a word?” Duke shouted in an angry voice.
Phoebe saw Duke and she went near with him.
“Hey, Duke. What’s going on with you?” she asked.
“Nothing, don’t mind me. By the way, why are you here?” he asked Phoebe.
“I was just meeting a friend earlier,” Phoebe replied.
“But it looks like you’re the one who’s got a story to tell. What happened with that girl?” she added, nodding towards the girl who had gone.
“Let's just say, I got a little too honest with her, ” he said.
“I asked her if she wanted a one night stand, and she took it seriously... didn’t take it well.” he added.
Phoebe laughed.
“Well, I guess that’s one way to get a slap in the face,” she said teasingly.
“But seriously, what’s going on with you and your friends?”
“None of your business, bye Phoebe. I will go home now.”
He said it coldly and turned back as he walked outside the bar.
Phoebe was left there alone and continued to drink wine. She was celebrating her successful night of ruining Harper’s life.
