"Push!" The midwife instructed, "you're so close! You're so close, the baby's head is already 10cm gone!" The midwife continued, the midwife shouted at Dova's mother urging to push with all the might she could muster. Various midwives had already advised against the delivery of this particular child but she was determined not to lose an innocent life. “Arrgggghhh!!!!” Dova’s mother tried her best to grab something to transfer this pain to but everything seemed flat and out of her grasp. Finally, the cry of a beautiful baby girl was heard crying loudly in the room. All the weremidwives looked up at the moon. It was completely full, they looked pitifully at the beautiful baby girl, her fate was already sealed; she would possess an immunity to the full moon that was more a curse than it was a blessing. “Sorry,Hilda, can we talk?” One of the weremidwife called out to the matron that had delivered Dova. Hilda lifted her head and answered her call. “Don’t tell me you intend on keeping that cursed child Hilda? She is more of a curse than a blessing to the clan and worse still, you intend to hide it from her mother? The same woman that gave birth to her? She is not fit to be in our world. Kill her before it is too late.” “May the moon goddess forbid it! That’s a life Cathy. A living being! You speak of her as though she is a mere toy that should be discarded.” Hilda was boiling on the inside. None of the weremidwives had agreed to her perspective. They had all agreed to end Dova without alerting her mother and fixing the blame on some insignificant medical term. Luckily, she was the chief matron and her decision for now was final. “A life that would not benefit any of us in this clan! And even bring ridicule. You’re not her mother, let her go!” “No! We will let her live as weremidwives. She will navigate through life as the moon goddess wills it.” She ended the discussion with a stern gaze leaving no slave for further argument. “Ma’am,here’s your child.” Hilda hands Dova over to her mother who has no idea her daughter is tagged as f*******n and she smiles from ear to ear praising the moon goddess. “She’s beautiful.” Dova’s mother stared at her daughter and she only smile in bliss. The weremidwives looked at her with pity, some already praying for the child to be able to survive this great ordeal of life. “She’s unique.” Cathy said giving half a smile to Hilda. Her gaze accusing Hilda of whatever it was to come to the child because of her failure to take a life. Twenty five years later, the night on which the immunity became her curse still seems like yesterday to her mother. "You were so white and tiny" her mother goofed, playing lightly with her cheeks. "Let me, Mother!" She laughed and she stared at the moon. She knew the moment the moon came out fully from its little shadow, she would struggle for life. But she could not afford to let her mother know. "You're so playful, you don't know when to stop!" Dova said, holding her mom's hands softly. "We're talking about my baby girl here, so how the heck am I gonna stop?" She laughed, as she swooped my birthday cake from where it sat, heading for the sitting room. "How time flies.” Dova’s mother went back in time when she was just pushing Dova out of her stomach while she almost felt like killing herself because of the heavy pains she had to endure. Looking back, she wa glad she took the decision to continue living despite the complications that came with Dova’s birth. “You're twenty five today and it was all just like yesterday," her mother said as a stubborn tear trickled down her face. She stared at Dova and she wiped her tears with happiness. She had been trying to hold back the whole time. The birthday celebrations went on smoothly. Dova was blessed with an amazing family. Vixor, her best friend also graced the event with his girlfriend, Anar. Dova was overjoyed to have him around. Slowly times takes it's toll and everyone retires to their respective homes. Dova is left with a feeling of nostalgia, reminiscing the old days and how beautiful they were, how free she and Vixor used to be, before Anar came into the picture. She dismissed the thoughts as being slightly jealous that someone would have to share her best friend with her. Her thoughts were interrupted however immediately the full moon was fully white. Her birthday fell on a date on which the moon had completed it's cycle and would now be fully bright. Slowly then quickly, she was still human although she had transformed. She still looked human but exuded high wolverine abilities. She struggled for the following minutes, she unbuttoned her shirt and try her best to breathe. She gasped for air like a fish but her systems lost catch. She squeezed her bedsheet trying to gain control of this beast she had become. Only to find that she couldn't. Falling weakly to the floor she notices that she now has some permanent wolverine features. After a while, her system finally responded with a free chance to breathe. The immunity came with a price. Dova now dreaded the full moon. Each time it was closer she'd have mood swings and basically be angry at everyone. She chooses to speak to one, she chooses to speak to her best friend, Vixor. The dark night slowly brightens into a beautiful day. Dova is determined to open up to her best friend, Vixor. She had gotten weary of keeping her bizarre experience to herself. Her mom wasn't even aware. Only Dova and the midwives who had birthed her were aware of her dilemma. She needed to speak to someone as she was now already contemplating suicide. The process of transformation was even more hard and painful for her. She couldn't continue to endure much longer.
