CHAPTER 38 After Chris left for work at 12, I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t concentrate on reading, I browsed TV channels without knowing what I was looking for, I did chores half-mindedly or not at all for fear of disturbing Gary’s sleep. I tried to go online, but that didn’t settle my mind either. I finally gave up and threw myself on the sofa to wait for something to happen. I knew that the next thing to happen would probably be Chris returning from work, which would be followed by a fight because Gary was still in our house.
