CHAPTER 24 When I woke up around nine, Gary was still fast asleep. The curtains we had not closed the night before let in the bright sunlight. It was a beautiful day outside, and there was no trace left of the snow that had fallen the night before. I glanced at Gary lying partially on his side and partially on his back, facing the ceiling more than the wall. His hair looked fairer than it really was in the sunlight, and the bruise around his eye looked even darker. He looked relaxed and showed no signs of waking up anytime soon.
