Long Work Day

Sitting at the desk Trinity looked up when she heard a knock. She peered over the computer to find Andrew holding a bag of Chinese and a cup of coffee. Trinity smiled, "You know me so well." Andrew grinned laying the bag and cup beside her, "I did do a little research myself." Trinity opened her  bag of food, "What do you mean?" "I kind of just went inside your mind." He rubbed the back of his neck. Trinity looked up from her food, "You do realize you could have just asked me what I like. I would have told you.” Andrew sat on the edge of the desk, “You seemed so busy and stressed, seemed to be the easier thing to do.” Shaking her head with a smile, “I’m not to busy to answer simple questions for you. You said we are mates right? Then we should be able to talk to each other and be open with each other. We should be able to trust each other correct?” He nodded, “You’re right I should have just asked. You don’t have experience with packs and how mates work.” Scrubbing the back of his head, “I’m sorry.” Reaching over, she grasped his hand, “You are forgiven.” She pulled him closer and kissed him on lips, she smiled against his lips and pulled back, “You can teach me all the things mates do alright?” He licked his lips and smiled, “Sounds like a deal.” He leaned in and kissed her back, “My beast really likes the idea.” She looked up to see his eyes turn black then back to that butterscotch eye she found so intriguing. “Well as long as your beast is happy.” She laughed. She pushed him back, I really need to get back to work.” Andrew huffed, “If you must.” He smiled and moved to the other side of the desk to sit. “I’ll wait here.” She looked over at him and laughed, “Are you going to just sit there and watch me?” He grinned, “No better way to pass the time.” She smiled and looked back at her computer. ‘Trinity!’ Trinity jumped out of her chair, ‘Holy crap, Allison you could have at least given me a warning like slowing enter my mind and don’t yell my name.’ ‘Oh sorry.’  She could hear Allison laughing in her mind. ‘No, you’re not.’ Trinity huffed. She looked up to find Andrew beside her again. "You okay kitten," Asked worriedly. She nodded patting his cheek with a  smile, "Yeah Allison just snuck up on me." Andrew nodded, "Oh okay." “Go ahead and sit back down everything is fine.” She pressed a kiss on his cheek hoping it would give him some reassurance. She watched him move away and sit back into his chair. She nodded to him and smiled, continuing her conversation with Allison. ‘Yes, Allison what do you want?’ ‘Oh, I just heard you have a new guy.’ Trinity sighed, ‘I'm guessing Jack told you?’ ‘Yep, so what's his name?’ She rolled her eyes. She couldn’t believe she was having this conversation, ‘Andrew. Now go away I'm eating my lunch.’ ‘Are you eating lunch with him?’ ‘Yes, now can I eat now?’ She looked up to see Andrew waving at her, “Yes?” He smiled, "Tell Allison hi for me."  She rolled her eyes, “Andrew says hi.” She said out loud and through the link so Andrew could hear her. Allison gasped, ‘He knows my name how does he know my name?’ ‘I told him about you. Aren't you supposed to be watching Sara?’ ‘Oh she's fine she's sleeping.’ ‘Well go check on her or bother your husband. I want to eat!’ ‘Okay, okay fine bye.’ Allison sighed running a hand down her face, "Stupid Jack." "What did he do?" Andrew questioned. "He told Allison about you, and now she's bothering me about it." "Oh, well I don't know what to do about that." "No it's fine, it just annoys me. I was hoping I could tell her myself." Andrew nodded at her desk, "You have had a lot of interruptions, you may want to finish all the work you said you had before we leave in a few hours. Your brother doesn’t seem like the type that will let you stay late due to needing to get your work done." Trinity grumbled, "You’re right. You want to help?" Andrew shook his head, “I’m into construction, not police work, I wouldn’t even know where to start.” She sighed, "Fine. I'll do my work but only if I get something out of it." Andrew grinned, "All right what's that?" She smiled, "I want another kiss." Andrew laughed and moved beside her and sat on the desk, "Well little missy you struck a hard bargain but I guess I can deal with it." He gave her a quick peck on the lips. He pulled away with a smirk,  "Payment has been given now work kitten so we can leave on time.” She growled at him, “Fine.” She moved away from him and continued to grumble as she worked on her computer. She continued working until she heard a knock on her door, then her door swung open hitting the wall violently. "You know Jack I have said before, you're gonna break my door one of these days," Trinity said not looking up from her computer. "Yeah, yeah are you ready to go," Jack said with a grunt. "Yeah, just a sec." She looked up from her computer and saw Jack with a frown, "Why are you in such a huff and puff?" "I'm not," Jack said looking over to Andrew. "I just want to go." "Yeah, I'm sure that's the only reason." Trinity gathered up her stuff and took Andrew by the hand. "Sorry about Jack he gets this way when I'm with a guy. Never likes them." Jack puffed out his cheeks as he turned from the doorway, "Yeah so, You always date jerks!" Trinity rolled her eyes, "Well, Andrew isn't a jerk so get over it." They walked out the station doors to Jack's truck. Andrew opened the door for her and she smiled, "Plus Jack you need to be nicer, you just met the guy. Wouldn’t kill you to get to know him a bit before you pass judgment." A chill ran down her spine as she stepped up into the truck, she looked into the woods across the street from the station. She squinted to see into the darkness of the forest and saw a figure in the distance. Cale. She squeezed the hand helping her into the truck, she looked over at him and he could see the fear in her eyes. He nodded and gently pushed her into the truck and sat beside her. She felt a calm warmth enter her mind. ‘What's wrong kitten?’ She moved a little closer to him and held his hand tighter, ‘I thought I saw Cale out in the woods.’ Andrew looked up and squinted to see into the dark area she had looked into moments ago. ‘I don't see anything.’ He looked back down to see Trinity snuggle into him more. He wrapped an arm around her and held her close. ‘He's gone now he just wanted me to know he was watching me.’ She felt a chill run down her spine again. She felt Andrew give her a little squeeze, she looked up into his eyes and saw his eyes turn black. Her eyebrows knitted together. She thought that only happened when he was aroused. ‘He isn't getting you.’ He let out a growl. She smiled, ‘Thanks.’ ‘Are my eyes black again?’ He saw her nod. ‘My beast is angry, he wants to protect you.’ Jackson tore her out of her mind and she looked over at him, he looked annoyed. Jackson growled as he put his seat belt on, "Are you guys done staring at each other, it’s really creepy? If you are done you mind putting your seat belts on so we can leave?” "Sorry." Andrew and Trinity said in unison. Andrew helped Trinity get her seat belt before he placed on his own. They both nod at Jackson as he began to drive off to Trinity’s house. As they pulled up to the house, Jackson put the car in park and looked over to Andrew. Jackson pointed at Andrew, "Okay let's just make this clear Trinity sleeps in her room, I sleep in the guest room and you sleep on the couch. I have very good hearing so I'll know if you move, and don't think I won't kill you if you even think of going into her room." Andrew nodded, "Okay." ‘I want to go to Trinity's room.’   Trinity laughed, ‘Way to break the rules. He doesn’t know that I can speak to you this way though. He doesn’t know that mates can do this. Although if he gets mad enough at you I should warn you that he can control minds.’ ‘That would suck.’ ‘Only for the person he controls.’ ‘I suppose I better stop before he grows suspicious of us not talking out loud at all.’ Trinity grinned, ‘Okay.’ It wouldn’t take long for her brother to catch on considering she talked to Allison all the time in the same way. Jackson narrowed his eyes, "What were you two just doing?" Trinity looked over to Jackson and smiled, "Nothing." She turned and opened the door so Andrew could get out. This was going to be the longest night of her life.
