Looking over to her mother she smiled, "Oh, mom this is Andrew. Andrew this is my mother Prudence."
Prudence bowed her head in greeting, "Hello, Andrew."
Andrew smiled, "Hello Mrs. Sullivan, It's a pleasure."
Prudence scoffed, "You can call me Prudence if you like, Mrs. Sullivan makes me sound so old."
Andrew laughed, "Okay, it's a pleasure, Prudence."
"Hey, mom what are you doing here?" Jack spoke up from beside her.
"Well, son I came because I felt something wrong in your psy link but the more I ponder on it I believe it was Trinity's psy link, so I came to see what was wrong."
Trinity’s brows knitted together, "Nothing’s seems odd to me."
"Have you had a vision?" Prudence continued.
"I haven’t had a vision in a while not that I think about it."
Allison smacked her forehead, “Oh my gosh I’m so stupid.”
Trinity looked over at her friend, “What was that about?”
"I forgot it was your birthday! I’m such a horrible friend!”
Trinity laughed, "It’s fine."
Allison rubbed the back of her head, "Happy Birthday."
Trinity smiled, “Thanks, girl.”
Squeezing Trinity's hips Andrew whispered, "Why didn't you tell me it was your birthday?"
Trinity shrugged, "I don’t celebrate my birthday, I forgot it was my birthday actually."
Andrew sighed, "How does someone forget about their birthday."
Trinity laughed at the hurt look on his face, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you. And to tell you the tr…" Trinity suddenly had a blank look on her face, and her eyes became glazed over.
Andrew froze and then shook her a little, "Trinity? Trinity baby?"
With a calm tone, Prudence placed a hand on his knee and smiled, "She's fine Andrew, she is having a vision"
Andrew sighed in relief, "Oh."
"Wow this is cool I haven't seen her have a vision before," Jackson said in awe.
"Neither have I," Allison added.
"When will she be back, I mean like conscience," Andrew asked.
"Soon enough," Prudence said. Then suddenly a scream ripped from Trinity's lungs he eyes now wide, "Damn It!" Trinity screamed. Running hands over her body and realizing she was back from her vision she relaxed. Looking at her mother, "You know I never liked the damn visions, they're to lifelike." She let out a puff of air.
"I guess that is the curse of the gift." Prudence gave a smile.
"What did you see?" Jackson couldn't help but ask.
With a sigh, she relaxed against Andrew, "Well I’m sure you could all guess the person in the starring role in my vision."
"Cale," Andrew said with a grunt holding Trinity a tighter against him. Trinity smiled at the action.
"So what happened?" Allison asked.
"Well, oh look it's lunchtime we should eat." Moving to get out of Andrew's lap she grunted as Andrew pulled her back down. She looked over her shoulder, "What its lunch we should eat. I’m getting hungry since I didn’t eat all my breakfast."
"We can eat later I want to know what happened," Andrew said narrowing his eyes at her in frustration. She looked away from him and saw everyone staring at her to tell them what happened. Trinity grumbled and sighed, “Fine!” Settling back down into Andrew's lap. She loathed the fact that she had this vision in front of everyone, "Alright, Cale was there obviously. All of you were there too…" Trinity looked around the room and everyone was still intrigued by what her vision was about. She continued, "and you were fighting him and you were winning." She looked up to see everyone nodding and smiling. She was not about to ruin the good news by telling them what happened to her. She looked over her shoulder to see Andrew staring at her with his eyebrows knitted together as if trying to read her thoughts. She smiled at him, she knew he didn’t believer her act. They were mates after all. Even if the mark wasn’t there she knew he could still read her enough to know that the words she used when explaining the vision had meaning. She was brought out of her thoughts by Jack's voice.
"What's wrong Andrew?" Jack question.
"She said ‘you’ when explaining the vision, she never used ‘we’." Andrew looked from Trinity to everyone else hoping they understood what that meant.
Trinity clapped her hands together with a smile, "Hey let's go eat now I'm starved." Trinity tried to get up but Andrew grabbed her hips and sat her back down in his lap. "Man, I'm never going to eat am I?" Trinity said with a sigh.
"What happened to you?" Andrew questioned knowing the result.
"I get,” Trinity looked down at her hands, “I get killed.” She said in a rush. Looking up at him, “It's no big deal." Trinity tried to smile. She saw pain cross Andrew’s eyes and felt his hands tighten on her hips.
"Why?" Andrew grunted.
Looking up at the ceiling, not wanting to see his face, "You guys were doing so well…" then looking back into his eyes, "…then he was about to shot you in the chest so I changed into my leopard form, which is ironic because I guess that's what Cale was excepting, and ran towards you and then I jumped in front of you and he got me. It was a silver and poison-filled bullet so it would weaken my alien and leopard to much. He shot me right below my heart. With both my alien and leopard weak I wouldn’t be able to heal, I would lose too much blood.” She sighed. She felt Andrew growl under her.
"How can we stop the vision from happening," Andrew asked through clenched teeth.
"W can’t, my visions always come true. Plus I would never take the chance of Cale shooting you even if it was with a regular bullet or even a silver bullet. I would jump in front of the bullet either way." Trinity shrugged. “Mates protect each other. If it were the other way around you would do the same.”
Andrew sat staring at her, yes he would jump in front of a bullet for her as well but that wasn’t the problem. How was he going to save his mate in this situation? He began to growl, "I'm not going to let you die."
"I'm sure you would save me if you had the choice," Trinity smiled, "Do you mind if we eat now I really am starving." She looked around to see Allison nodding and heading to the kitchen to cook. Trinity went to stand up but found that the arms around her torso wrapped around her tighter. She looked back to see Andrew nuzzle against the back of her neck and inhaling her scent. She smiled and pressed herself closer to him. If this is what he needed to calm himself she would do this for her mate.
After awhile everyone found themselves around the kitchen table with dinner in front of them. Trinity kept her eyes down feeling the hot gazes of everyone, but the only sound she heard was the clink of silverware against the plates. Andrew had allowed her to sit in her own seat but had placed himself as close to her as possible. She was glad that her mother wasn’t here to see this, her mother had thankfully thought that with this new revelation that everyone needed some time to digest the information and then come up with a plan of action. She wasn’t sure what her mom had meant by a plan of action, but her mom had just smiled and said to not let the vision cloud her sense of judgment on the battlefield. She glanced up from her plate and regretted it the moment she did, all eyes were on her just as she had thought. She looked over to find Andrew picking at his food, moving it around the plate not taking a bite. She gently pushed against him and smiled, "You know you should eat, it tastes really good. Allison is a really good cook." She laughed when shook his head as if clearing the fog in his mind and nodded. She smiled when he looked at her with a grin, "Go ahead and say it, Andrew."
He smiled, "It really is good. Almost as good as the breakfast you cooked for me."
Trinity shook her head, “Allison is a far superior cook than I am, but thank you.” They continued the dinner in silence but at least Andrew was eating now, and the awkward silence didn’t feel as heavy with Andrew smiling beside her.
Trinity sat on the porch behind the house, she swung her legs as she sat on the wooden porch swing. She took a deep breath and smiled, she loved this time of night when the air was crisp and the sky was speckled with stairs. She turned when she heard the door creak open to see Andrew's head peek out from behind the screen door. "You think I could join you," Andrew questioned slowly walking towards the swing. Trinity patted the space next to her with a smile. Andrew settled beside her but she noticed that he was twisting his fingers as if not sure what to do. She smiled and placed a hand on his and took his arm and placed it behind her head to lie in the crease of his shoulder. "I love this time of night," Trinity whispered.
"Me too," Andrew whispered back with a sigh pulling her closer. They sat on the swing moving it ever so slightly. Andrew felt Trinity slump into his lap and found that she fell asleep to the whisper of the wind and the chirping of crickets. He smiled and slowly moved her so he could position her in a way that he could carry her inside. He slowly opened the door and nodded to Jack as if to say he was now on guard duty. He walked down the hall to the room Allison had given them and placed her on the bed. She only stirred a little but quickly fell back to sleep. Andrew made his way around the bed and fell in beside her. As if feeling his heat Trinity snuggled in closer to him and he smiled. Placing an arm around her he inhaled her scent. He fell asleep with only one thought on his mind. He was not going to lose his mate.
For the next two weeks, Andrew never left Trinity's side afraid of what might happen if he did. Prudence called once in a while to see if everything was going okay, and to make sure Trinity was okay. Everyday everyone came together to make up a plan to defeat Cale once and for all, Jack was uneasy because he was afraid and unsure if their plan would help or kill his little sister, Trinity.
