chapter 4 Day of departure

**The Day of Departure** Yvaine awoke feeling invigorated, the anticipation of the journey ahead giving her an extra spring in her step. She slipped into a simple yet elegant free-flowing white dress adorned with ruby patterns. Pairing it with ruby red shoes and a slim white bag, she radiated serene grace. After ensuring she was ready, she savored a light breakfast before heading to her car. "Drive me to the gate," she instructed confidently. "Yes, Madam," replied Martin, her ever-loyal driver. As they drove to the gate, they transferred her luggage into a waiting taxi. However, as they made their way to the airport, they hit a wall of traffic. Yvaine glanced at her watch, her brow furrowing with concern. "Go find out what's going on," she ordered Martin. "Yes, Madam," Martin replied promptly. Lowering the window, Yvaine overheard snippets of frustrated conversations from the surrounding cars. "Dad, I'm going to be late," a young girl’s worried voice drifted in. "Sweetie, wait a while," her father responded reassuringly. "Dad, you didn't forget I have an exam." "Let me call the school. You'll be late today," he sighed. Another person groaned, "I'm going to be late for my appointment. Why today of all days?" "Son, you're going to use a private plane today. With this jam, I don't see you arriving on time." "Mom, I've made arrangements," the son replied, exasperated. Yvaine heard the chorus of complaints and frustrations around her. "Madam, it seems someone from the office is passing," Martin noted, his tone cautious. "Is that so?" Yvaine responded, her irritation mounting. *Who is foolish enough to cause such a disruption?* she thought. Determined to take matters into her own hands, she stepped out of the car and approached a nearby vehicle where a girl, clearly distressed about missing her exam, was waiting. "Hello, sir. Can I borrow your daughter for a while?" she asked the girl's father, her tone assertive but kind. "Dear, come with me. You aren't going to miss your exam," she assured the girl. "Who are you?" the girl asked, bewildered. "Are you coming?" Yvaine pressed, urgency in her voice. The girl, accompanied by her father, followed Yvaine towards the police officer who was blocking the cars. "Who is in charge here?" Yvaine demanded, her voice cutting through the chaos. "Can you go back to your car, miss?" the officer replied dismissively. Yvaine slapped him, her patience snapping. "Answer my question," she ordered. "You dare slap a police officer...," he began, only to be met with another sharp slap. The second officer intervened. "Good. Now, does any of you know who is in charge here?" Yvaine asked, her irritation growing. "It is me. I am Inspector Samwel," a man stepped forward, his demeanor authoritative. "Clear the road. We want to pass," Yvaine commanded. "Sorry, the governor is passing, so you have to wait," Samwel replied, unmoved. "Okay, this child may be your governor tomorrow. Can you let her pass?" Yvaine argued, her eyes flashing with determination. "Miss, this is an official order from above." Yvaine sighed, "I wonder why I wasted so much of my time talking." She took out her phone and made a decisive call, "This nonsense on the road better end now." Turning to the girl, she said, "My dear, you can go back to your car." As Yvaine returned to her car, Inspector Samwel received a call, "Yes, sir. Let the cars pass." "Dad, who is she?" the girl asked, astonished. "I don't know, but we need to get back to our car if you don't want to be late for school." In another car, Laura watched Yvaine with intrigue as she passed by. Liam felt an inexplicable rush of excitement and a deep sense of connection. His heart raced, a mixture of curiosity and anticipation swirling within him. "Mom, did she just pass through here?" he asked, his voice tinged with awe. "You mean you sensed her?" his mother replied, a knowing smile on her lips. "Yes," he said, his thoughts whirling. "Okay, take a breath. Everything will fall into place; don't worry," she reassured him, a calm certainty in her voice.
