**A Tangled Web of Emotions**
Yvaine drained half of the bottle and was still drinking. Liam watched her, concern evident in his eyes.
"That's enough," Liam said, his voice gentle yet firm.
"Lee, until I agree, I'm the one controlling my life," Yvaine retorted, her tone unwavering.
"What's bothering you?" Liam asked, leaning closer, trying to connect.
"Where is the plane going?" Yvaine inquired, deflecting his question.
"City Z," Liam replied.
"Mm," she muttered, taking another sip.
"Why do you always change the subject?" Liam pressed, his eyes searching hers.
"You, I'll answer later. Others, I just refuse," Yvaine responded, her gaze unwavering.
"Can you tell me anything about you?" Liam asked, trying to bridge the gap between them.
"I can tell you what I like, but that's a long list," Yvaine said, a hint of a smile playing on her lips.
"Just mention a few," Liam urged, his curiosity piqued.
"Cars, animals, art, fashion, books, drinking, and many more," Yvaine listed casually.
"That's nice," Liam said, his voice warm.
Reuben, watching from a distance, was shocked to see Yvaine not drunk after having a full bottle of wine.
"How long until we reach there?" Yvaine asked.
"We've landed," Reuben said as the pilot made his announcement.
"Let everyone leave," Yvaine instructed, her tone commanding.
Liam looked at Reuben, and everyone began to disembark. Yvaine leaned in close to Liam's ear, her voice a soft whisper meant only for him.
"I'm Yvaine, 28 years old, with four children. If you want me, your family has to know about my children and accept them before we talk," she whispered, her breath warm against his ear.
She then kissed him on the lips, a brief but electrifying connection, before leaving. A car was waiting for her. In the car, her thoughts were filled with him, but she knew it was more than just her now. She couldn't rush decisions like she wanted to. If this was when she was just herself, she wouldn't think twice before taking him there, but now the situation had changed.
Back on the plane, Reuben and others had been waiting, but Liam hadn't come out, so Reuben went inside to see him.
"Sir," he called, but Liam couldn't hear him.
"Sir," he shouted this time.
Liam looked at Reuben, his expression dazed.
"Sorry, sir, but we have to leave," Reuben said gently.
"Mm," Liam responded, standing up slowly.
They left the plane.
"Where is she?" Liam asked, his voice thick with longing.
"Sir, she took her car and left," Reuben replied.
Liam couldn't stop thinking about the kiss, her scent, and the words she had spoken. Even after reaching the hotel, his mind was still occupied with thoughts of Yvaine.
Yvaine reached her hotel room, showered, and ordered another drink, this time a strong one, Madeira. Despite the strength of the Madeira, she still didn't feel drunk. She closed her eyes, trying to quiet her mind, when she heard her phone ringing. Opening her eyes, she picked up her phone.
"Hello, darling," she answered softly.
"Hi, sweetheart," Aderyn replied, her voice cheerful.
"How are you doing?" Yvaine asked, her voice tender.
"I'm good, Mom. Can you switch to a video call?" Aderyn asked.
"Not today, baby," Yvaine replied, her tone weary.
"Please, Mom, all of us want to talk to you," Aderyn pleaded. The others had called her since she was the one who could convince Yvaine to talk on a video call when she was moody.
"Baby, I can call you tomorrow morning," Yvaine said, trying to put it off.
"Mom, please, for our sake, turn it on," Aderyn insisted.
"Fine, wait a while. I'll call you back," Yvaine conceded.
"Okay, my angel," Aderyn replied.
Yvaine washed her face and took a deep breath before calling her back. The phone connected immediately.
"Ryl, what are you doing out with the way you're dressed?" Yvaine asked, concern etched on her face.
"Mom, I feel warm. Don't worry," Ryl replied.
"Even if you're a doctor, don't ever tell me not to worry," Yvaine said, her tone stern.
"Sweetie, don't get angry. I'm going to wear something warm later," Ryl assured her.
"You mean now," Yvaine insisted.
"Yes," Ryl replied, sighing.
Yvaine looked at the other three, her eyes softening.
"Mom, I'm warm. Don't look at me like that," Darren said, trying to ease her worries.
