Chapter 20 - Level Headed Fights

1142 Words
After a hot hot shower, Maylyn dresses her night shorts and a plunging v neck tank top. Not only is this night outfit comfortable, it easily comes off. Glancing at the time, “Gavin should be home soon.” Pulling the covers down and getting into the bed. Having regretted all night asking Trent not to tell Gavin. Of course, Gavin needs to know. Can she really handle Tristan? Can she handle being apart from Gavin? All of these answers are no. A new gift, she can see motives in people. Almost like seeing into their minds. Her mind replying looking into that mans being and knowing Tristan is coming. Gavin is supposed to take me to take me to see the lord of the Nobles tomorrow. I wonder if this will change anything. Closing her eyes and opening them as fast as she closed them, or at least it seemed. “Maylyn?” Sitting up, “What? What’s wrong?” Breathing hard and looking at Gavin. “Why do you smell like that?” Exhaling, “Oh you scared me! Didn’t Trent tell you?” He pulls her from the bed and wraps a blanket around her. “Gavin? What’s going on?” “You smell and the staff is coming to change the bed sheets.” “Wait? What the hell? Gavin?” He holds her in his arms and walks over to the sitting area. Sitting down with her on his lap as the staff runs in.  “Gavin? I don’t understand.” Maylyn very confused. He kisses her nose. “I know love. We knew this was coming.” “What was coming? Gavin, you’re not making any sense to me. I need to know what is going on.” “Maylyn, we’ve known Tristan was going to or will be making a play to kidnap you or make you leave me. This is why we are going to see the lord of the Nobles tomorrow. We’re looking for information on Tristan, we will understand his motives.” “I can see his motives.” Feeling he is not telling her everything and almost treating her like a child. “I know love. But you can’t stop it, predict when it will happen or tell us who our enemy is. We are leaving tomorrow and-” “What? Gavin, please don’t-” “Would you feel safer staying home?” “Why?" Feeling anger starting to boil. Her voice may not project it, but she is trying to get answers and he is making answer all by himself. "Do you think we'll get attacked on the way?" “No, I don’t necessarily think that. But-” No longer unsure he's treating her like a child. Anger breaks her voice, standing and letting the blanket fall to the ground. “But what Gavin? You’re being very vague, and I feel like you owe me the truth. I am your mate! Your Queen and I want to know what danger I’m in!” Gavin’s right hand rubs his cheek. He stands and takes her hands. No matter what either of them feel, holding hands is calming the anger. “Maylyn, I want you to stay here. Trent and I will go to visit the Nobles. General Randy will be here to take care of you. But I want- need you to stay in the castle.” “Gavin, what’s going on? Tell me- you’ve never tried- just tell me what is happening!” “You already know!” “What do I know? I don’t know anything! You’re lying to me!” Yelling in anger with tears falling from her eyes. He drops her hands, “Don’t speak to me that way!” Checking his tone, “I have never spoken to you disrespectful. You already know what’s going on. I don’t know anything more than what I’ve told you. You keep asking me like I can see the future. I don’t have that gift, no one does!” “Gavin, please-” “No Maylyn! You're staying here. You will stay in the castle. Randy and his men will be watching the castle.” “No! You can’t tell me what to do! I’m not your slave!” Realizing this is not going to end well if he stays any longer and he can only hold in his anger so much. Stepping past Maylyn and walking toward the door. Feeling her mood change, “Gavin, where are you going?” Gavin does not answer. He’s on the verge of saying something, he might not be able to take back. What he needs to do, is get away for a couple of days, let the anger dry, then come back and talk. He’s always walked away from people and she will be no different. Not only is he the King and he is no one to yell at. And right now, his love has forgotten who he is and her vows. “No Gavin, wait-” Not waiting to hear anything else before slamming the door on her words and footsteps toward him.  Opening the door to his office a slamming it hard! Gavin is so pissed off. Using one of his gifts, things around him fly from their homes and crash against walls, and the floor. The gravity and pushing hard on the glass windows, before shattering them into 1000’s of pieces. Hearing the breaking of bones and ripping of clothes before shaking his head and seeing through wolf eyes. Howling and jumping from the window, hearing the door open and Trent yell, “Gavin!”    Two Days Later  Gavin and Trent sit silently in the backseat of the car. They are being driven to the Nobles land. Having not allowed Trent to talk through their minds. He knows what his brother is going to say, and he doesn’t want to hear it. Gavin is still pissed off. “Man, its been two days. Don’t you miss her?” Trent attempts to reason. Looking out the window, its not his prerogative to answer. Gavin understands he misses Maylyn, a lot. More then he is allowing his mind or heart to react too. But she disrespected him. He was actually telling her the truth. He doesn’t know anything more then he told her. “She called you a liar. She yelled at you and she didn’t believe you.” He glances at Trent, “What would you have me do? Allow her to continue to disrespect me. I was telling her the truth.” “I get it. But-” “But what?!” So much annoyed in his tone. Looking at each other, “How do you think I should have handled it? Did I do something wrong? Did I yell at her? Did I hit her? Did I disrespect her? Did I call her names? Did I make her feel like s**t for telling the truth?” “No Gavin. You didn’t do any of things to Maylyn. But you did walk out on her. You have ignored her for two days and you’re still angry. Meaning you still haven’t forgiven her for being emotional about her life.” His eyes back outside the window, shaking his head and sighing. “I know. I know Trent. My pride… I’m the King and-” “It’s your pride that going to get her taken from you.” Knowing Trent can feel his loneliness and pain from the pride of who he is.  “It’s okay brother. Clear your feelings Gavin, we’ve arrived.”
