Gavin nods at Emmonn. The door opens and the clan leader walks through the door. Its obvious this is Tristan’s family. They look almost identical.
Gavin, Trent and the lord stand. “Thank you for coming Juri.”
“Yes lord. How can I help you?”
Turning the attention to Gavin and Trent, “Juri, this is the King of the Werewolf and Lycan nations and his Price Regent.”
Juri turns to Gavin and bows slightly, “How do you do?”
“I am well, thank you Clan leader Juri.”
“Juri,” the lord calls. “The King has come with some questions regarding Tristan.”
“Yes, your son is attempting to intimidate my Queen, with periodically visits and threats of abduction.”
“Oh gosh-”
“I am here to determine where he might and make everyone aware, if you don’t stop him, I will kill him. No one threats me.”
“How do you know he’s done these things. My son Tris-”
“He’s been to my land, he has sent scouts, and told my Queen directly he plans to take her to meet her new in-laws.”
Juri glances at the lord of the Nobles and shakes his head, “That kid.”
“What will you do Juri?” The lord asks. “I know this is your son. But he is committing crimes. As the lord, I cannot stand by a decision other then punishment.”
“But this is my son. My oldest son.”
“I understand Juri. It was your responsibility to teach your child manners and right from wrong. You did not, now things have led to this.”
“But lord-” Juri begins to protest.
“Do you believe Tristan has a right to threaten the Queen?”
“No, my lord. Of course not! But how do I approve of my son’s possible death? How can this dog come onto our lands and ta-”
Gavin grabs Juri's neck and lifting his body from the ground growling, “How dare you disrespect me!”
His hand squeezing tighter; “I’ve come here with respect for your lord and your people.”
Bring the clan leader down to eye level, not releasing any pressure around his throat, “I will take all means necessary to protect my Queen.”
Dropping the Juri to the ground, looking down on him while he catches his breath.
Gavin’s eyes to the lord, “I’m sorry Emmonn that it has come to this. I mean you and your people no disrespect. You have always been nothing but courteous and delightful, to myself, my father, and his father.”
“Yes, as long as they live.”
“I apologize regarding the accord. But I will take all means to protect my Queen, including death.”
“I understand and apologize for my clan leader bad manners.”
Gavin and Trent bow to the lord and leave.
Maylyn, Tabitha and Casper lie on their backs looking up at the sun while sailing on the lake. Maylyn has been in a funk since the night she argued with Gavin. Her heart slowly ripping micro inch by micro inch, she's hiding it well.
She ran after him that night, after getting dressed. Finding Trent standing in the doorway of the Gavin’s office while staff cleaned the room. “Trent where’s Gavin?”
He glances at her, “He shifted and took off. What happened between you guys?”
“I’m sorry. I lost my temper a bit and yelled and accused him of lying to me.”
“Yeah, that’d do it.”
“I couldn’t help it. He wasn’t telling me what he knows about Tristan and I should know, its my life.”
Remembering Trent’s face like he's still in front of her, “Maylyn.”
Shaking her head at recalling her fumbling over her words, trying to justify herself to Trent.
“Maylyn!” He yells.
Already knowing she was wrong. Looking at him, feeling a sting in her eyes. “Maylyn. We don’t know anything more then Tristan wants to take you. He was telling you the truth.”
Yelling and shaking her hands, as if trying to fling something off of them. “I know, I know Trent! I’m sorry. How do I make it right Trent? Where do I find him!”
He shakes his head slowly. “May, that’s not how it works with the King.”
“What?” Almost completely exhausted and just kill me. “The King? Why?”
“You pushed him past his limits. He was trying really hard not to show that colorful side. Right now, he’s the King, not your mate.”
“So wh- so what does that mean? How can he-”
“Maylyn. You won’t be seeing him a little bit.”
“What the hell? He’s my mate. How can he jus-”
“I’m sorry Maylyn. What did he tell you before he left?”
“He wants me to stay in the castle. Let Randy and the warriors protect me.”
“I suggest you take that advice. He must have a feeling something is going to happen.”
“No. He said he couldn’t see the future.”
“He can’t. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a bad feeling. Maylyn, you made a not good situation, into something terrible. His mood is going to be off when we see the lord of the Nobles.”
Feeling tears fall, “What can- is there nothing I can do? When can I- should I expect to see him again… or ever?”
Trent eyes to the side, like he’s thinking of what to say, “Give it a few days May.”
Walking back to their bedroom and crying herself to sleep.
“Maylyn?” Looking at Tabitha as she calls.
“Yeah?”
“Are you okay girl? What’s on your mind?”
Looking away, closing her eyes, “Like singing a sad song.”
“I’m sure you're replying everything in your mind.”
“Yes, not that I can change anything. But I can’t stop replying things.”
