Chapter 15 - And The Gift Goes On

Tabitha is sitting on the dock waiting for Maylyn to catch up to her. “Tabitha! What happen?”
She calms herself, “Trent never told her he has a mate. He just called it off and she’s thinking maybe they can be together again.”
“Is that what he said?”
“No, but that’s what he allowed to happen by not telling her.”
“Wait Tabitha.” Maylyn says sitting down next to her. “Okay, tell me how the conversation went.”
Tabitha nods, “I asked how the meeting went and if she was here. He said, the meeting was fine and yes she already arrived.”
“Okay and? We are talking about Eleanor right?”
“Yes, May. I asked if he felt anything. He said no and he hasn’t been with her since that incident.”
“Where is the part that got you upset?”
“I asked him if he told her he has a mate.”
“And?”
“He said he didn’t think it was necessary. So, she’s here thinking maybe they could get back together.”
“Is that what did he said Tab?”
“He didn’t think she would think that. He hasn’t really talked to her or at least not about what they had.”
“So, he talks to her, I assume, about Kingdom stuff?”
“I don’t know May. But why is he even talking to her? Why didn’t he tell her?”
“Love, I’m not sure why you’re so upset? Why do you need Trent to tell her about you?”
“What? Are you kidding me May?” Looking at her in such digest.
“No, I’m not Tab. He broke it off with her and they talk Kingdom, I’m sure because he has too. Did he say something or spend time with her today? Something that made you upset?”
Sighing and looking away. Knowing Maylyn is right and the tears begin falling again, “I know you’re right May. I don’t know. I just want him to tell her something, something that makes me feel better than her.”
“Oh love.” Maylyn says well draping her arms around her.
Pulling from each other when they hear footsteps on the dock. “I’m going to go Tab. Let me know if you need me.”
Maylyn stands up and faces Trent. Seeing Gavin standing a few steps behind him. She smiles at him and put his hand on his arm before leaving.
Turning to see Gavin and Maylyn walk away. Trent walks to where Tabitha is sitting, “Can I sit?”
She sniffles, “Yes.”
“I’m sorry. It never crossed my mind to tell her anything about you. I didn’t know if that would cause trouble for you or if you wanted anyone to know.”
“I’m sorry Trent. I overreacted and put expectations on you and me, and it’s not realistic. I’m- I don’t know how to get over that day. I’m sorry, I don’t know how to go forward.”
Her words hurt, but not as much as the thought of being without her. Holding her hand, “I guess we start with holding hands.”
Tabitha puts her head on his shoulder. He kisses her head, “I’m sorry I disrespect you Trent.”
Releasing her hand and laying them down on the dock. Looking up at the stars in the sky, “I’m sorry I didn’t love you enough Tabitha.”
“What do you want Trent? I mean- when all of this is said and done, what do you want.”
“You.”
She rolls to her side, wraps an arm around his chest and kisses his chest.
“Gavin?”
“Yes.”
Maylyn feeling some kind of way to ask about this. “How did the meeting go? Was it about what you thought?”
He holds her hand as they walk back to the castle, “Yes, it was about what we hoped wouldn’t be.”
“Is it Eleanor and Trent?”
“Well, its about Eleanor. My brothers name might come up, but he isn’t and wants no part of it.”
“What does she want Gavin?”
“Her father came and proposed a marriage between the two.”
“Oh wow, what did you say?”
“We said no. Eleanor is from a prominent pack. So, we must be gentle. We said no tonight, I’m sure before we leave there will another meeting.”
“What about tomorrow? Tabitha is supposed to be Trent’s partner.”
He stops them together and faces her, “Don’t worry my love. Trent and I have no intention of giving in. There is nothing that pack has or can say that will sway me. My brother’s happiness is worth 1000 packs and Alphas. Tabitha will be his partner tomorrow and forever. I think she’s made herself clear and he will tell people she is his mate if she chooses.”
“Will she be okay?”
He tilts his head, “What do you mean? Will someone try to hurt him or her?”
Maylyn nods while putting her free hand on his stomach. “I’ll kill anyone that attempts to hurt my brother. No one wants to f**k with me. Not even the lord of the Noble’s.”
“Nobles?” She's heard this word before, but has yet to understand the difference between Nobles and a vampire.
“I’ll tell you after the ceremony.”
Maylyn wakes the next morning groggy and all around just not good. She’d be worried about Tabitha all night. Thou, she couldn’t image anything bad would happen judging by what Gavin said.
Unwilling to get out of bed. This is going to be a long day, that she isn’t sure she's 100% ready for. But that decision is not hers to make. Hearing a knock on the door and sighing loud to herself. Its time to begin the day.
Sitting up in bed as Tabitha walks in, “Hey hoe time to get up!”
Smiling at her, “I’m already awake. Tell me about yesterday. Are you okay?”
She pouts her lips, “Yeah, we’re good May.”
“Like good you spent the night together. Or good, you guys talked but nothing is solved but we’re staying together.”
“May,” Tabitha says putting her hand on her hip. “We slept on the dock. No clothes came off. Better?”
“Tab. What did you guys decide?”
“Nothing. Just that we want to be together.”
“Well, I think that solves a lot. Are you going to be next to him today?”
Smiling, “Yeah, I plan too.”
“Tell me.”
“May!” Tabitha smiles and glances away, “I’m really happy. I can’t wait until this is over and we can be together.”
“I’m so happy for you Tab!”
“Okay, enough about me May. This is your day and we need to start getting ready. Its going to be time before we know it!”
Smiling dripping from her face, “May, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing, really. It’s just… this is a lot and I- I don’t know if I’m ready.”
“Too late for that thought girl and besides, I thought you wanted your man?”
“I do, I do a lot.”
Tabitha nods, “Then we start with breakfast. Go on to bathing, facials, a nap and finally make-up and getting dressed.”
“I get to nap? I like napping.”
“Oh, I know hoe! You nap a lot but you’re going to need it today. Don’t worry, we’ll have you ready by 5.”
“What about you? When are you going to get ready?”
“We’ll be together until your make-up. That’d be my time to get ready and I’ll be back to see you getting dressed. So, there’s only one question left.”
“What?”
“What do you want for breakfast May?”
“My lady, its time to get into your dress.” A helper says.
Maylyn looks at herself in the mirror, smiling at her make-up and hair down falling between her chest and back. The door opens, “May, I love your make-up.”
Turning and smiling at Tabitha, walking though the door. “I like it too. It looks so natural. I like your dress Tab!”
She glances at her dress. “Thank you May. I hope Trent likes it.”
“How can he not? You look amazing!”
Shrugging her shoulders, “It’s time to get you into your dress.”
“Have you seen Casper?”
“Oh yeah, he’s dressed and ready. He’s in the main room waiting for me.”
“Thanks Tabitha. He’s special to me. He reminds me a lot of me.”
“No worries May. I like the little kid. He’s smart. Come on, you need to get into your dress. Believe it or not, you have 30 minutes until it’s time for you to get in place.”
“Tell me again, what am I doing?”
“Are you really this nervous May?”
“Yes! I mean I want Gavin, it’s just I’m nervous.”
Tabitha stands next to her, “Don’t worry Maylyn. You’re going to walk to meet Gavin, take some vows to him and the Kingdoms. Then it’s to eat!”
She laughs and walk toward the dress hanging in a white dress bag.
