Chapter 12 - The Gift Goes On

Maylyn walks down the stairs, out of the castle and to the general dining area. Following in line and waiting in the dinner line. Lots of people are looking at her and talking about her, no one has yet to talk to her. The volume of the dining area is loud, to the second power. Finally sitting alone at a table, a pup comes up to the table. “May I sit with you?”

She smiles, “Of course. I was worried I’d have to be alone all dinner.”

The little boy sits across from her. She smiles at the way he puts his dinner plate on the table and struggles to get comfortable in his seat. “Do you need any help?”

“No thank you Luna. I can do this. I normally sit alone.”

This breaks her heart. Now, bullying and being mean is a kid thing. But she still didn’t like it or think it was right or should be allowed. “What’s your name? And why do you call me Luna?”

“My name is Casper. All the other pups make fun of me because of my name. My parents are dead, so the other pups think its okay to be mean. I don’t have anyone to stand up for me.”

He eats his food, so used to being the outcast. Maylyn knows this feeling so well. “Want to hear a secret Casper?”

He looks up from his food, “My parents are dead too. And I love your name. Do you what to be friends?”

His eyes light up, “Friends with the Luna?”

“Why do you keep calling me that? I’m not the Luna.”

“You are. I haven’t seen you around before. The other moms don’t talk to me. I knew that only the Luna would talk to me.”

Being so involved in Casper, it never dawned on her she shouldn’t come alone to the dining area. Startled and looking up when she hears a plate placed on the table next to her. Only now, looking in his face, does she notice the room is quiet. “Gavin?”

Gavin smiles at her and sits down, “Hello.”

His attention to Casper, Maylyn turns to him as well. His face is pale and a bit scared. “Hi Casper.”

“Hello, Alpha, King-”

“Alpha is okay. I see you have the best seat in the house tonight. I’m jealous.”

“Is she your mate Alpha?” Casper asks so innocent.

“I don’t know let’s see.”

Both set of eyes on her, she blushes. “She’s pretty.”

“I agree Alpha. She is pretty.”

“She is nice.” 

Casper nods his little head, “Yes, she is the only person in the pack who will talk to me.”

Gavin’s smile fades. Maylyn understands that will end today. His smile returns, “I think if she isn’t my mate, I should force her to be.”

“Alpha!” Casper’s stunned little face is priceless, “You can’t force a mate. If the pretty Luna isn’t your mate, she can be mine.”

Unable to keep from a chuckle. “I didn’t realize I have such competition.”

Maylyn shaking her head, “Gavin.”

“You’re one smart pup Casper.” Gavin takes her hand, que the good feelings. “She is my mate, my Luna and my Queen.”

“I knew the Luna would be nice to me. But Luna, why are you here alone?”

“Yes Luna, tell us. Why are you here alone?”

“Stop it Gavin!” Saying with a disbelief smile, “I just wanted to come and see the pack.”

He chuckles and kisses her on the cheek. “Let’s finish our dinner.”

“Alpha?” Casper calls, “Should I leave?”

“No. We are having dinner together.”

Walking back to the castle together, holding hands and enjoying each-others company. “Casper told me no one talks to him. None of the mothers. Why is this happening?” Maylyn hurt for the pup.

“I've been very busy running the Kingdom, I let this part of the pack slip. Since the packs harmony depends on the Luna and I had no Luna.”

“That’s an excuse Gavin. There should be someone taking care of the pups and making sure that doesn’t happen.”

He wraps his arms around her waist and pulling close to him. “Another reason why I’m so glad I found you.”

Maylyn bites her bottom lip before he leans down and connects their lips and mouths. Fast for a moan to slip in the kiss. Gavin chuckles and smiles, “Why do you do this to me? You smell so good and tempting.”

“Like you aren’t tempting me? My hands are so itchy! How many more days? And are there any proper dress?”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, I am showing skin,” stretching her hands and covering her chest area, “If this shows?”

“Are your assets showing?”

“No, well- just a small bit.”

He sighs, “One. All day tomorrow and then the day is finally here.”

Yelling as she is lifted off her feet and into his arms bridal style. “Come. Let’s go to our room and sleep.”

Resting her head and a hand on his chest, “Yes my love. I am tried.”

“We have a lot going on tomorrow.”

“Like what?” Feeling her eyes closing.

“Full set up, guest arriving, normal Kingdom business, and to make everything worse, we sleep in separate rooms.”

Looking up at him, looking down at her, “Why? Is this some kind of tradition?”

“Yeah, it supposed to increase the need for each other. We haven’t seen each other all night and all day until you walk down the isle and take your vows.”

“I can see that helping. I already miss you and we haven’t come to tomorrow yet. Gavin, who will handle the vows?”

“The previous King.” 

“Your dad?”

“Yes, he is my father.”

“Does he live here? In the castle?”

“Yes and no. He and my mother live on the far, far, far end of the land. But right now, they are traveling the world and staying with other packs and such. They will be here only for the ceremony.”

“Oh. Is everything okay? Will I meet their expectations?”

Gavin chuckles, “Not that it matters what they think, I’m the King. They will love you. You don’t realize how amazing you are and beautiful and how much I love you.”

Kissing his chest and wrapping her arms around his neck before plunging her mouth and tongue to his. He is caught off guard and fast to catch up. Moving her body and wrapping her legs around his waist. One hand on her back and another on the back of her head. She moans and rubs her wet s*x against his stomach. He walks in the castle with up the stairs.

“Wait!” Pulling from the kiss.

He is breathing heavy, “Yes?”

“I need to go to my bedroom. My clothes are there and junk.”

“Oh.”

He puts her down, “Well, good night my lord.” She turns to walk away.

“Wait? What does that mean? Where are you going? Are we not sleeping together tonight?”

She glances behind her with a smirk and walks down the hall to her bedroom.

Opening the door, closing it behind her fast and exhaling. Maylyn rubs her hand on her neck, feeling overwhelmingly tired. Kicking off her shoes, rubbing her eyes and walking over to the bed. Really wishing she could sail and sing this out. So many hidden fears about meeting Gavin’s parents, the ceremony, the ceremony night, being Queen and Luna, her wolf, all these new changes in her body. So many changes, so little time to get use to them.

Not bothering to shower, she takes off all her clothes and gets into bed. Feeling dizzy and all around not good. Now isn’t the time to get sick, thou she is assuming it due to changes of having Gavin being her mate. Closing her eyes, feeling the ride in her head pulling into the station before drifting into a fast sleep.

Gavin opens the bedroom door slowly. Feeling Maylyn everywhere but mixed with something new. Its late that same night, he steps into the bedroom and closes the door behind him. Walking to the bed and seeing her sleeping uncomfortable. Touching her head and pulling back fast! He has the ability to read minds, he doesn’t use it because he hates no privacy. But if he needs to use it, he will.

A bit sad, wishing he could go through the pain for his love. That missing wolf of Maylyn’s is back and becoming what it will be for the rest of her life. 

Gavin sits on the bed next to Maylyn to explain. Talking out loud, thou she is asleep, he knows she will remember. “We are different, my love, from a werewolf, from a Lycan. We are more and that is why your body changes, to accommodate that more. Your wolf, thou at one time, it might have been something more to you. At this point, the wolf will be more like another side of who you are, kind of like a bad side.”

He chuckles, “I don’t think that’s the right way to explain it. But you may only hear the wolf when you’re about to lose control or to fight. At least, that’s when I hear mine. When we were apart for those 9 days… that was the first time I had shifted in quite some time. I’m sure it happened because I wasn’t taking care of myself. I wanted to get back to you, so I refrained from eating and sleeping, filling that time with work. That was a mistake, both leaving you and not taking care of myself.”

Gavin lays down with his back resting on the headboard. Pulling Maylyn to him, he plays with the bottom of her hair as she sleeps peacefully on his chest. “I find myself wondering what color your eyes will be with each of our moods. What abilities you will have.”

Rubbing her face, “Gosh, you’re are so beautiful. I remember sitting down and waiting for the person Lady Luna said was singing. You took the stage; I was handling business via email. Trent got my attention and I saw you. It didn’t hit me right away that you were my mate. I wasn’t looking for a mate, the Kingdom is a lot to think about. When you sang the words, the very thought of you my love, it hit me. I lost control and my wolf side growled you were my mate. I already thought you were pretty, but it was intensified by 1000. You were literally all I could see. Then my email notification went off and I remembered, I am the King. No matter what I wanted to do to you, I must attend to my Kingdom.”

Maylyn stirs and wraps an arm around his waist before kissing his chest. Gavin moans, “Do you know how good that feels? How your touch leaves lingering sensation on my skin. How did I live before you? I’m learning how to balance wanting to be with you every second of my day and ruling the Kingdom. I like to think once the mating bond is completed, you won’t be swimming so many laps in my head. I fear it will only be worse.”

Figuring she needs to sleep and so does he. Thou, leaving her isn’t on the agenda tonight. He moves her to the pillow and stands up. Taking off pants and shirt and lifting the blanket when he sees her. Sighing, “Why do you do this to me?” His body is always so very honest and the light in his dark life, is lying asleep and completely naked. Dropping the blanket, rubbing his hands on his face, sighing out loud, putting his pants back on and lying next to her.
