Chapter 25 - Does It Matter

823 Words
Randy and the warriors arrive at the battle site. Running to Tabitha, down to his knees and feeling her still alive. Yelling for men to come and take her to the pack hospital. Standing at seeing the pup that Maylyn loves missing the bottom of his body. Turning around and seeing the bottom. “Oh gosh, no.” Not only was the castle attacked by Lycans. The guards of the castle still believed the Queen was in her chambers. They assured him she did not leave. When the battle was under control, he went to make sure the Queen was okay. But she wasn’t there. That’s when he and 10 warriors started running toward the lake. “General!” He turns to his warriors, “The wolf intruders. They’re still alive.” “Take them to the dungeons and put a collar on them. Make sure they stay alive!” Heartbroken for Casper, “Bring a body bag.” Shaking his head, looking in the direction he knows Maylyn was taken, “The King is going to have my head.” The night is short, and the new day breaks on the horizon. The stack of dead Lycan bodies is getting smaller and the fire is getting larger. Randy knows the King will be back today or tomorrow. He is waiting for a call from Trent, at that time he’ll tell him everything that went down. Sighing, just hoping the King wouldn’t kill him. Already determining how Maylyn got out unnoticed, but this wouldn’t be an excess for the King. If he’s honest, if Maylyn was still his mate, this wouldn’t fly with him either. Glancing down at his watch, knowing it was time to go. The call would come soon. Sitting down in his office with waiting for the phone to ring and so not ready to tell of the battle and losses. But this is part of the job he signed up for and he worked really hard for this. He is mated to his job and he’s going to take it. The phone begins to ring. Randy breathes deep and exhales. Picking up the phone, “Randy!” Well at least Trent sounds happy.   “Yes, Trent, we have some news.” “Oh? Is everything okay?” Trent’s voice no longer so happy. “No.” “He came.” “Yes, do you want the full report now?” “No. We’ll be home in a few hours.” “The clean up will still be underway. Do you want us to rush it or stop?” “No continue. We will be there.” Randy hangs up the phone and begins to write a report, so nothing is missed.  Trent hangs up the phone. Sighing and waiting for Gavin to make it in the plane. His thoughts are for Tabitha and what Gavin is going to say. He already had a bad feeling about this and since he is not talking to Maylyn, this is going to set him off. Gavin sighs and sits down across from Trent. “I’m tired and ready to sleep in my own bed.” Trent says nothing but allowing the mood to change in him. Waiting for Gavin’s eyes to meet him, “Trent? What’s wrong?” “The castle was attacked.” “What? Is Maylyn okay?" He does not answer.  "Trent is f*****g Maylyn okay?” “I don’t know! We need to hurry and get home.” “Was it Tristan?” “I can only image. Who else would have a reason to attack the castle?” “Is May-” “Does it matter Gavin? You haven’t talked to her in days.” “What?” his eyes full of confusion, at what he just heard. “I’m sorry Gavin.” Trent slightly bowing his head, “I don’t know anything more. I didn’t ask Randy and he didn’t say. We just need to get home fast.” “Why didn’t you ask?” “I don’t want to know. If Tabitha isn’t okay, do you think I can stay calm?” Gavin breathes deep seemingly to come back to himself, “You’re right brother. I need to get my feelings right on this matter. I can’t let my fears take over. Thank you.” Nodding, “We just need to get home.” Seeing Randy waiting at the front of the castle. The vehicle stops and Gavin rushes out. “Where is she?” Randy looks down and shakes his head. Gavin grabbing his neck, “What happen? You were supposed to watch her!” Trent attaches his hands to Gavin’s pulling back his fingers, “Gavin stop! This isn’t helping! We can’t get answers if he’s dead!” Hearing his brother, but its yet to make sense. Fighting for control within himself, that damn wolf is trying to take control again. Yelling, releasing Randy and falling to the ground on all fours. Dry heaving feeling Trent get next to him. “You are one damn strong King!” He looks up at Randy, eyes wet, feeling like his whole body cooling down. “I’m sorry Randy. I lost control for a moment.” Trent helping him stand, while Randy stands to his feet catching his breath. “It’s okay King. I understand why you would be so upset over this. Maylyn is your mate and Queen.” Gavin nods, “Come tell me everything, I need understanding.” “You’re really calm about this Gavin.” Trent comments, while they follow Randy to the office. “Comes with thinking with the right head brother.” Trent nods.
