He leaped toward LJ with lightning speed. LJ, anticipating the assault, jumped aside perpendicular to the original position. He missed and fell face-first into the sand. As he righted himself, his anger was magnified. At first, LJ thought she might be able to talk him down from his holy war of destroying her and or her baby, but now she knew that only one of them would come out of this alive. She quickly began to look for anything that she could use for a weapon. A strange and powerful feeling saturated every cell of her body. It was that primal instinct of every creature, especially every mother, to protect one’s child, born or unborn. Her weapon, she observed, lay at her feet.
