“Come on inside, I've ordered dinner already and it will be here in 10 minutes.” Avalea and Flynn raced off; Ky rolled his eyes as we followed them at a slower pace. “Will you be joining us?” Mark asked me. “Do you want me to say something in particular?” He tilted his head at me. “You really don’t trust anyone do you?” “I don’t know any of you yet, trust in earned.” He laughed. “I have known you since you were born Skyler, I knew both of your parents.” That seemed impossible; I asked my father about PIA when I crossed the name in a report but he told me that he had never heard of it. “You really don’t remember me do you? We meet nearly 5 years ago in this very city.” I back away from him. “What?” I reach for my gun but don’t quiet pull it out. “Explain right now or I’ll fire first and ask questions later.” “I'm the one who found you after you were attacked, I had a friend willing to help me but you turned and by morning you were gone. I kept an eye on where you went but there were never any strange disappearances or deaths, how? How where you able to control your feedings?” “My mother was a witch; something in her dna smoothed my transition. I'm able to survive off animal blood that I buy from butchers; I feed every 4 hours so my hunger never reaches a point where I can’t control it.” “And you’ve done all of this on your own?” Ky asked quietly with a hint of sorrow. “My squad isn’t like any other team in the world, they are all shifters.” He said calmly my eyes snap to Ky, I muttered an incantation and I saw his wolf. “Are the others wolves as well?” “Avalea is a werecougar and Flynn is a werepython.” I just nodded, I hadn’t ever met another supernatural and I was a little stunned. My watch beeps, I head inside and up to my room I open my bag and pull out a needle and injected it straight into my heart. I look up and see Ky standing there. “What? Another snarky comment?” I wince as I pull the needle out. “You’re not like the other soulless we have come across.” “That’s because I'm not dead like the others, I bleed just like you do but I heal almost instantly.” “Crosses? Holy water?” “No effect at all nor does silver or the sun. I'm just a normal person who needs blood to survive.” “Didn’t you lose the witch part when you turned?” “No I can still do spells but I haven’t been able to really do much since I don’t have any books.” “I'm sorry about earlier, I sensed something in you but I was wrong.” He held out his hand and I went to shake it but as soon as our skin touched a waved passed thru us. “What the hell was that?” I asked breathlessly, “I don’t know.” He replied softly. I opened the door for him to leave but he just stood there looking at me, then without any warning he pushed me up against the wall and started inhaling my neck and hair.
