Avery’s POV
The outside world blurred past in streaks of dark and neon as we sped down the highway, putting as much distance between us and Lisa's estate. My heart continued to slam against my ribs, alive with adrenaline from the getaway. Each breath felt like lead, the weight of what had just happened crashing down on me now.
Noah held the steering wheel with swimming knuckles clenching the leather while Dominic continuously scanned the rearview mirror. Raven was in the back with me furiously typing on her laptop, erasing our tracks.
"She knows we're coming for her now," Raven said, still not moving her eyes from the screen. "She'll be on high alert. We lost the element of surprise."
