A night passed and it was already morning. Aralyn woke up after a long sleep but she wasn’t able to see at all. Her hands were tied at the back so, it was impossible for her to move. She could feel the warmth of the morning sun but, she couldn’t see where she was. A piece of cloth was covering her eyes and all she could do was talk.
Aralyn struggled to untie the rope but it wouldn’t come off. She tried again and again.
“Stop it. It won’t work. Don’t waste your enegry.”
A familiar voice came from a corner. She could hear all kind of noises but she didn’t hear that voice before. A quiet yet, serious voice.
“Keith…?”
“Yes.?”
“Are you okay?”
“Yes..”
Aralyn couldn’t see Keith but she could say he wasn’t feeling good. His voice was heavier than usual.
“Can you..see..?”
“Yes.. As clear as day.”
“Then, why can’t I? ”
Aralyn was frustrated and mad at the same time.
“All livings have keen senses. And sight is one of them. That’s the only good thing about being born as one.”
“T-then, what about you?”
“I’m only half living, Aralyn. My senses aren’t strong as yours.”
The more she heard, the more frustrated she was. She didn’t know what to do or say.
But, just at that moment, both Aralyn and Keith heard footsteps coming towards them.
Step by step.
Getting louder and louder.
Closer and closer.
All of sudden, it stopped and became silent.
Then, a loud screech…
“I’ll take the boy, you can take the other one, Delia.”
“Okay.”
After the short conversation, both Keith and Aralyn were taken to a place.
Aralyn waited for Keith to say something since he could still see. But he didn’t make a sound at all.
When they got into a hall (or a room), there were noises all over the place.
“We brought him here, master.”
“Master? Who are they talking about? Who is this master?”
She thought.
“Very well, you two. I'm proud of you.”
As soon as the master finished his sentence, Aralyn smelled a wild smell. It was similar to animal scents or, the forest's earth scent.
Suddenly, the words Keith trying to say came into her head.
“B... What is it? What was he trying to say?”
While Aralyn was occupied with her thoughts, Keith didn't say a word. He remained silent. He knew what kind of danger they're facing at that moment.
“Untie the living. We don't need her..”
“As your words, master.”
As he said, they untied her. But, the sight Aralyn saw wasn't what she was expecting...
“W-what are you...”
The one they called master laughed at her and stared into her aqua-hued eyes.
“Me? I'm the ruler of this place, young living.”
“I can't believe she doesn't know you, master.”
Aralyn turned around where the second voice came from. It was a female, unexpectedly.
“You're asking what I am but, seems like your fellow already knows the answer.”
He turned to Keith and smirked a bit.
Aralyn was shocked. She turned to the direction where Keith was but, he...
..He didn't even look up. He held his head down and his face was glooming.
“K-keith..?”
“They're the Beasts, Aralyn.”
“Beasts?”
Her memories flashed into her mind. She finally realized why Keith was silent.
“That means, you're...”
She started.
“Zeph, yes.”
The so-called master continued.
“And this is...”
Aralyn started.
“The Beast hill.”
Keith continued.
