Chapter Two

Myra's POV: I let out a long gasp as I jerked up from the bed. I was sweating profusely, both my hands and feet were shaking terribly, my eyes readily scanned my environment and slowly I realized that this was not the hospital. I sat up and looked at my hands, there was no blood, it seemed okay even when I looked down, there was no trace of the baby in my womb anymore. I frantically opened my shirt and gasped at what I found. There was also no trace of where my stomach had been cut open. “This is a dream,” I tried to convince myself while trying to connect with my wolf, but I couldn't feel her. She was no longer there, clear to me that something was wrong. Somehow I could tell that all that happened was true. Everything that happened with Ethan was real, I could still feel it, and even though I have no clue yet how it happened, it was clear that I had been reborn. I walked to the mirror and stared at my reflection, my features were still the same, except for the fact that I looked much younger. The moon goddess had heard me! She hadn't sent someone to avenge my child, She had sent me back to do it myself. Though I had no clue yet where I was or how I was going to make those that hurt me pay back, I just knew there was no way the pain in my heart would go away unless I see Ethan and Tiara pay for what they did. This time they would answer for everything. Just then, a knock jarred me back to reality. "Come in." I answered sharply, as I rose to my feet. This was the princess bedroom, I had no clue why I was here, but I knew that as a maid, I shouldn't be here at all. The door opened and a young lady stepped in with her head slightly lowered. She was dressed in a maid's uniform and her long hair was neatly pinned back. When she raised her head and smiled at me, a gasp left my lips, my eyes bulging. Tiara? My brows furrowed in confusion as I tried to understand what was going on. She looked exactly like I recalled—same pretty face, same snarky mouth; except the familiar smirk was gone. In its place was a quiet, practiced deference that sat awkwardly on features I had only ever seen wearing cruelty like a crown. I took a step back before I could stop myself, my mouth wide open in shock. Every image rushed in at once—Tiara telling the doctor I didn't need anesthesia, kissing Ethan before me, while I bled out. She had stood there watching me being pierced with a syringe; unable to speak or fight, the surgical knife digging into my skin like my body was nothing. And she never blinked even once. Right before me, she ordered the doctor to kill my baby. A child who never got the chance to live. Because of her. The demoness. She halted a few inches away. When she looked at me, there was a warm smile on her face. If I hadn't known better, I would never associate her with the same person who took my life. I might have thought she was a beautiful soul. But now I could never be fooled. My heart stilled and I felt like prey as she began to approach me. Like a predator. "My lady." She bowed. My eyes went wild. Why wasTiara addressing me as a lady when I was a mere servant? Could that mean she wasn't done playing games with me? "Your father asks that you begin preparing—” “My father, who?” I interrupted her, narrowing my eyes at her as confusion etched through them. She looked at me with a hint of confusion before she spoke. “Alpha Edward!” She mentioned and I didn't realize when I gasped as my eyes went wide. Alpha Edwards was my father, yes, but there was no time he had been an Alpha. Something was wrong here and yet I couldn't fathom yet place my hands on it. But Tiara didn't seem bothered about my confusion as she continued to speak. “Alpha Ethan will arrive within the hour. The engagement party starts at noon." “Ethan?” I asked but got no response. “And you are?” She furrowed her brows at me, surprised at being asked. "Tiara, my lady. One of the omegas assigned to your chambers." An omega, the moon goddess, was really playing a cruel game now. Like the roles had been switched, making it easy for me to be able to get my revenge on her. I looked at her for a moment and almost smiled. The moon goddess, I decided, had a very particular sense of justice. She helped me get dressed and I asked my questions carefully, keeping my voice light and disinterested. And with a few answers she gave, I was able to gather that I was the daughter of Alpha Edward who happens to be her father in my previous life and while I was an omega that worked for Alpha Ethan's pack house, she was my personal maid in this life. Soon I was done getting dressed and stepped into the large hall. All eyes were fixed on me, there was a mixture of admiration and envy in their eyes. But my gaze caught hold of only one person. Alpha Ethan! Ethan stood in the center of the room like he had been placed there by design. Tall, confident, carrying himself the way men do when they have never once doubted the world would arrange itself around them. He was exactly as I remembered, like nothing had changed except this time, I was the one getting married to him. I felt a pang as I recalled all the things he had let happen to me. He had failed in his promise to protect me. I let out a deep breath to regain my composure. It worked. But the pain didn't disappear, instead it grew intense. I could vividly recall the way he had stared at me and told me I was not worthy to bear his heir. Previously, I would be so giddy to see him. I always looked forward to him being around me and my heart would flip when he looked at me. But now, staring at him only made my heart ache. Ethan's face lit up when his eyes locked with mine and he immediately walked towards me. In the past, my heart would have leaped out of my chest. But now I was numb. “Princess! You look so stunning.” His lips widened into a grin as he leaned close to kiss me. But I tilted my head backwards, avoiding him as I shot him a fake smile. “You don't look bad either.” “Listen Myra, I know that this might be an arrangement between your father and I, but trust me, I will take care of you and you are not just a contract to me.” What a joke. I nodded my head, every word that came out of his mouth made my blood boil. I was so afraid that if I spoke another word it might hurt. Just then, Tiara appeared next to me carrying a tray of red wine. "Champagne, my lady. A toast to your happiness." She offered with an innocent smile on her face. For a moment I was starting to think that maybe this Tiara won't be as bad as her previous self. But that thought didn't last long. I reached for the glass of wine but her wrist suddenly twisted to the side and the entire wine spilled on my dress. I stepped back with a gasp. “My lady!” Her eyes popped wide with her mouth wide open. She stretched out her hand to the glass that I had been holding trying to prevent it from spilling any further on me, but just as her hand caught a whiplash of it, I let go of my grip on it and at the same time, she also pulled away from it. My mouth fell open at the realization. That black lotus b***h! Her movement was so calm yet it seemed like it was calculated perfectly and timed. I couldn't even blame her because I had no evidence she did it on purpose. As the glass came shattering right on the floor, shards flew to my dress, making me glance down in amusement. If I didn't know better, I would think this was an accident. I leaned down, wanting to take out the shards lodged in my dress before it hurt me. But the movement and grip on a shard made me cut my fingers in the process. I hissed softly. Tiara quickly went on her knees with a mixture of fright and remorse. Her expression looked so real that I was so confused whether this was an act or not. “My lady, forgive me!" She begged, crying as she rubbed her hands in apology. "It was a mistake. Please don't hit me. It won't happen again.” It finally made sense. I knew what Tiara was doing. She was making it seem like I abused my servants. The commotion had caught the attention of everyone in the hall. Ethan who was standing beside me looked furious, reaching a hand out, and just when I thought he would come to my aid to check on me, he literally walked past me. Instantly, I felt gobsmacked. He moved away from me like I wasn't important, reaching for Tiara's arm, his face etched with serious concern. "Are you alright? Did the glass hurt you?" It felt like I had been doused with cold water as I stood there bleeding. I watched him ask an omega maid if she was fine when clearly, she was perfectly fine but I wasn't. Now, it was starting to dawn on me that some things wouldn't change, no matter how many times it happened. She was the omega now and I was the princess, yet he had just humiliated me in front of everyone. But I wasn't going to stand it, not this time. I took a step forward, walking toward Ethan and Tiara, a blank expression on my face. “You look fine, Tiara,” I muttered plainly. She looked at me with swollen eyes as she began to wipe away her tears. “You clearly dropped the glass on purpose and I got injured, yet you're the one crying?” My voice was laced with amusement and she looked at me in confusion. “Don't talk to her like that.” Ethan said, getting up and I turned to him. “She's just—” “Never interrupt me when I'm talking to my maid again.” I interrupted him, my gaze cold. He looked taken aback. “Get up, Tiara.” I watched as she got up and wiped her tears. “You don't have to speak rudely to the alpha because of me, my lady. You can hit me. I'll take it—” My hand landed across her down and out face with a practiced precision before she could complete her words. She wanted to get hit? She got it. Everyone gasped in shock as I pulled back, shaking my hand gently while Tiara stared at me with wide eyes mixed with hatred. There. That's the Tiara I knew. “Do not ever pull this nonsense stunt and make me look like the villain in front of everyone. Do you understand?” She nodded meekly. With that, I turned around to leave but ended up bumping into a solid chest. I froze, expecting a guard, and looked up to meet the gaze of a middle aged man. I recognized his eyes immediately and it made my heart pick up weirdly. Those eyes belonged to one man alive. Alpha Aleric —the Lycan king and Ethan's father! This man was barely ever seen, because as the rumors had it, he was cursed. He stared into my eyes, but I couldn't find any tenderness in them, they were so cold yet something was pulling me so close to him. Without a word, he took my injured finger and began wrapping it with a bandage. He had a bandage like he was expecting something like this to happen. The hall went quiet followed by some silent whispers. The whispers started at the edges of the room and moved inward. “The Alpha King. The demon wolf. Why is he here…?” “He has never attended any event before.” “Wherever he went, death followed!” The voices speaking in the background grew, fading as his hand still held onto mine like something he had been longing for all his life. And for some reason, I found myself wanting more of this.
