saraphine and Darius POV (In my Cabin)

1122 Words
I pressed my forehead and palms against the shower wall as lukewarm water streamed over me. The scent of blood, Leo’s and mine had long disappeared down the drain, but I still felt dirty. I had to get to the farmhouse before Darius came looking. Yet I couldn’t turn the water off. I was so tired. The moment I’d returned to my cabin, I’d shoved the broken necklace under the mattress, stripped, and rushed into the shower just before the tears started. This was the only place safe enough to fall apart. I stayed under the spray longer than I should have, letting silent sobs shake my body. Another name crossed off the list. But it never felt like victory. Just exhaustion and the heavy weight of more violence still to come. A soft click sounded at my cabin door. “Galen?” I called out, thinking it was Darius. Silence answered. Hoping my eyes weren’t red, I turned off the water, wrapped a towel around myself, and stepped out. “If you give me a minute, I’ll dress and make your din” The bathroom door flew open with a kick. I flew backward, crashing into the wall. Before I could recover, a sheet was thrown over my head, blinding me. Laughter erupted. The pack. I struggled, but too many hands grabbed me. They dragged me out of the cabin. My towel was ripped away. Suddenly I was airborne. My back slammed against the hard ground, knocking the breath from me. Someone hauled me up and shoved me again. I hit another surface hard. Then another shove. A trip. Another fall. They kept me blind and disoriented on purpose. The laughter grew louder every time I stumbled or cried out. I recognized the game. They’d played it with others before breaking spirits through confusion and fear. It felt endless. Every time I got to my feet, someone tripped me or shoved me into a cabin wall. My head rang. Blood trickled from a cut near my hairline. Just when tears of frustration burned my eyes, a strong arm wrapped around my front and jerked me against a hard body. A dark whisper brushed my ear. “This is just the beginning.” The final shove sent me flying. My head smashed against wood. I slumped to the ground and waited for the next round. No one grabbed me. The laughter had stopped. I was alone. Still cautious, I finally tore the sheet off. I came face to face with a massive dark-brown wolf with startling emerald eyes. And this was Darius POV With my eyes locked on Seraphine’s silver-gray stare, I shifted back to human form. She didn’t move. Just stared as the large wolf became a crouched, naked man. Blood from a cut near her hairline slid down the side of her face. Her ragged breathing slowly evened out. If I hadn’t returned from my run when I did, I wouldn’t have believed what this pack considered entertainment. The laughter I’d overheard had been sickening. It’s all a mask. Was anything about this woman real? “You’re bleeding,” I said, stating the obvious. She didn’t blink. More blood trickled. I reached toward her face. She slapped my hand away. “f**k off.” My voice dropped to a dangerous whisper. “What did you say?” I waited for my wolf to snarl at the defiance. He stayed strangely silent. Her eyes narrowed. “You heard me. This is what you wanted. Now that you’ve enjoyed the show, you can f**k off like everyone else” I took her down to the ground, my hand wrapping around her slim throat in warning. Not enough to choke, but enough to remind her who she was talking to. Her expression remained calm. No terror. Just defiance. “Maybe the alphas before me didn’t care what you said. I do.” “I don’t care,” she spat. I leaned closer and inhaled. Fear. Pain. She hid them well, but I could smell them on her skin. Something in me, the man, not just the wolf reacted. “Should I call you little kitten instead of little wolf?” I murmured. “You get hurt and immediately try to scratch with claws that aren’t fully formed.” Her eyes flashed. “Come closer and I’ll show you how fully formed they are.” Despite her words, she shoved at me. I didn’t move. “Where do you intend to use them? I wouldn’t say no if you wanted to scratch my back.” She swallowed. The faint scent of arousal hit me. My body responded instantly. “Get off me.” “Why? Your body isn’t telling me to leave.” “I am not the sum of my biological responses,” she snapped, shoving harder. I glanced down at her bare breasts. “From where I’m sitting, you’re not wearing anything to stop me.” “Tell me what I want to know, Seraphine. Save yourself.” She laughed bitterly. “When s*x doesn’t work, it’s back to threats.” My gaze returned to the cut on her head and the hickey on her throat. “It would be in your best interest.” “I was with Leo,” she finally said. “f*****g?” My voice was pure wolf. The mark on her throat made my vision tint red. Mine. I yanked my hand from her throat and stood before my wolf could act on the violent urge to mark over Leo’s claim. “You think I’m just like the others?” I growled. “Pack run tomorrow night. Tell your boyfriend Leo that I give one warning only.” I turned and walked away, needing distance from the woman I shouldn’t want but couldn’t stop thinking about. Truly Saraphine has always been on the apex of my mind, she is in every single thought of my heart. Maybe i should listen to my heart? Or that would be for some other time, not now. °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
