Chapter 63: Danger at the Door (Elina's POV)
The knocking at Isabelle's door sent ice through my veins. I stepped back instinctively, my omega wolf cowering as Victor's scent seeped through the cracks despite his attempts to mask it.
My gaze darted frantically around the apartment until it landed on a baseball bat propped by the door. I grabbed it, my fingers trembling as I gripped the smooth wood.
The knocking grew more insistent, each thud against the door like a hammer to my racing heart. Victor's fist hit the door with such force that the hinges rattled. It felt like he could smash through with a single powerful blow.
I held my breath, pressing myself against the wall. My wolf whined softly within me, begging to flee.
