Winning

Angel spent the previous evening with her Aunt and Uncle making a solid financial plan and getting all the legal issues handled. She had no idea what to think about the situation or what to do with the roughly three trillion in money and properties. It wasn't really hers as far as she was concerned. Some bull happened literally centuries ago and somehow she's uber rich because her relative was a misogynistic piece of crap. Uncle Tim told her how that relatives second and third wives couldn't give him children so he took his youngest daughter from the convent and made her marry the bastard son of some royal or another. Insisting their children carry his family name as the bastard couldn't claim a family name of his own. From that forced union her family line had sprung. Deciding to put all that out of her mind she headed to the kitchen for some much needed caffeine. "Morning Princess" her dad greeted her, holding out a fresh mug of coffee for her. "Morning Daddy" she replied then took a sip"Gods yes!" She moaned "You are the best dad ever!" she kissed his cheek. "What's on the agenda for today?" "Apparently I need to take you to the lottery office." he grinned at her "Why?" She c****d her head at him "To claim your winnings of course" He smiled bigger. "Can't I just cash it at the gas station like last time?" His habit of buying her a lottery ticket every time she came home was cute, and she had won a few hundred dollars over the years. "Not this time" he shook his head grinning broadly while holding up his phone to show her the winning numbers. "What the actual freak!" She knew the numbers he always used, she should since he used her dates of service. The date she swore in and her separation date from her DD214. "Holy hay bells" she snatched the phone and looked at the winner information "Only one winner?" She gulped. "Dad you bought the ticket, it's your winning." She tried giving it back to him. "Nope, our deal stands. You win you come off the road." he pushed the ticket back to her. "A deal is a deal sweet pea." "What am I supposed to do with," she paused and looked at the amount again and gulped"Two billion dollars?" Paul grinned and shrugged"Pay a ton of taxes" The process was surprisingly simple, fill out a few forms, have her picture taken with one of those giant checks, get the real check and it was done. What nagged in her mind was that she couldn't remain anonymous. Florida published the names and photo of jackpot winners. She felt really uneasy with that part. She had a bad feeling that unwanted and unscrupulous people would be crawling out of the wood work over the next few weeks. "It was bound to happen one day, I suppose." she tried to convince herself. Then she had a knowing, "Mom's coming for me." she spoke quietly, but her dad heard her. "Is that fear talking or a knowing?" He asked, though judging by the sick look on his face, Angel knew he knew. "Knowing" she confirmed.
